Robert Plant was driving around New York City in his limo when he tuned into 'Starseed' by Toronto's Our Lady Peace being played on a local station. "Find out who those guys are," orders Plant. "We can use them on our dates."
As a result of Plant's curiosity, Our Lady Peace opened for Page & Plant before more than 80,000 fans in Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Chicago with the possibility of further dates when the Led Zeppelin duo return for U.S. arena dates in September.
"It was obviously a great boost for the guys," enthused management spokesman Eric Lawrence. "Now we're getting all sorts of radio exposure and offers for live dates are pouring in."
The band's debut album, Naveed has been released in the States on the Sony-owned, New York-based Relativity label with future releases set for Australia, United Kingdom and Europe. They are currently on tour in the States with Ned's Atomic Dustbin and will be playing several radio-station sponsored festivals in Los Angeles, San Jose and Atlanta.
