My friends Kyla and Nicole, and I were lucky enough to get tickets to go
to Hanson's June 20th Montreal concert! And this is how it went...
We got there at the Molson Center at about 5:45pm. The doors opened at
6:30pm and we got a good place in the block & a half long line. ;) Of
course, we just stood on the corner of the street (about halfway down
the line) and waited for it to move. When the line moved, we moved right
in line. *LOL* (Excuse me to everyone behind us, but we're smarter than
to walk halfway across Montreal to get in line, 'kay? *G*) Surprisingly,
there were quite a few of guys, freaks and college students in the line,
so the Girls-ages-10-to-16 market isn't the only ones who like these
talented blond boys.
At 6:30pm the doors opened and since we weren't too far, we got inside
at about 6:35pm. There were these bitches satnding by the doors with
these things aorund their neck that looked like backstage passes. That's
what they were telling everybody that they were and some of the younger
and more obsessed girls almost looked like they'd cry! (And a few girls
_were_ crying!!! AAAH!) It was mean to say that's what they were... but
they weren't! When you got to the Souvenir table, they were selling them
for 20$ a-piece! And you couldn't go backstage with 'em either. ^_^
We found our seats and sat there. We were up on the second row of
balcony and could see EVERYTHING. It rocked. Not as much as it would've
being in the front row, but this was good enough. : )
We sat around, listening to the Aerosmith CD they were playing over the
loud speakers (I bet it was Ike's CD!!! *G*) and waited impatiently for
7:30pm to come. And it did. : ) The lights went out and it looked
awesome. They were selling these glow necklaces, y'know the cool
fluorescent things for 5$ and I think everybody in the whole ampitheater
bought one, 'cause that's all you could see! : ) The first 6 rows or so
rushed up to the security gate and everybody screamed. The concert was
starting.... but we all knew it wasn't Hanson, 'cause it wasn't set up
for them yet... Tay's keyboards weren't even there! (They were
backstage, so were Zac's drums... we were on the side, so we saw
everything back there too!) Then the Opening Group came out. They were
called Admiral Twin.... (the drummer/singer is Jarrod Gollihare, the
author of Hanson's Official Book! OOooooh.) They're from Tulsa also, but
they were quite a bit older. : ) They performed for about half an hour,
and got the crowd all psyched up for Hanson. All their songs sounded the
same, (but they were pretty good.) But I spent my time staring at what
we saw of Backstage... and we SWEAR Isaac was back there, and I think
Zac was with him. We watched them for the whole opening act. How do we
know for sure it was them? 'Cause it was Ike's guitar, and he was
practising his chords! : ) Coooooollll........
After the opening band got off, they began to set up Hanson's set. *LOL*
Everybody screamed everytime they moved soemthing, or did something...
especially at the first, when they dropped a giant sheet over the stage
so we couldn't really watch 'em set up. We were getting really hyper,
and somebody started a wave. We did that for about 5 minutes.... and
with 25 000 people doing it, it looked cool. Too bad that Hanson wasn't
watching. (Ike, Zac and the guitar had left and went to a Backstage that
even we couldn't see.)
At 8:30pm, I'll tell ya, I think that's when I first started to really
live... Like my life had no meaning 'til that moment when they ran
onstage! (I'm not being Dramatic or nuthin' ^_^) It was cute but kinda
sad, 'cause Zac was a little running on, he tripped on the stairs going
on! : ( Poor Zaccy, he didn't hurt himself or anything though. Yay! *G*
I nearly died when they came out.... it was Hanson, I was like, THERE
and so were they! AAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!! They all looked really good too.
Tay was wearing a pair of what were either white or Khaki pants, a
shiny-ish white jacket and a black T-shirt under it. Zac was wearing a
red long-sleeve shirt, and I think jeans. (I can't remember.) Ike was
wearin' a yellow shortsleeve shirt over a white one, and I think green
pants. (I forget that too.)
They were like "Is everybody having fun yet?" "Everybody SCREEEEAAM!!!!"
and stuff, then they started to play somebody's song... not one of
theirs though. The songs went in this order:
1. "Gimme Some Love"
2. "Shake It (Mash Potato)"
And this is where people when absolutely CRAZY 'cause Tay took off his
jacket. Sure, it's just a jacket, but he looked SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good
in that tight black T-Shirt...... ; D
3. "Thinking Of You"
4. "Where's The Love" The LONG version. : )
5. "River"
6. "Weird"
7. "Sometimes"
Here they went off sayin' "Okay! That's it! That's a wrap!" and left the
stage. They had to change the set, obviously. About 5 minutes later, the
stage had been transformed to look like a garage or rec-room. They were
position in a semi-circle... Ike was sitting in the green chair with is
acoustic guitar, Tay was sitting on this little bench behind just one
heybboard, which had put on a smalled thing, so he COULD sit. And Zac
was sitting behind his drums. They were like "Welcome to our garage...
now we're gona sing some songs we wrote here!" So then they played:
8. "Stories"
9. "With You In Your Dreams" (the 3CG version)
They dedicated it to their Grandmother, and there was a mix of cheering,
and "Awwww"s. I was nearly crying, they sang it so well, and we were
REAAAAAAALLY mad at this one girl who was SCREAMING
"TAAAAAAAAAAAAYLOORRRRRR!!!" 'til she was hoarse through the WHOLE song.
We wanted the slap her, she had NO respect for them! I mean, this was a
song for their Late Grandmother, and all she could think about was Tay!
She should be shot! *very mad at this little brat*
10."Soldiers"
11. "More Than Anything"
Yes! Tay and Zac left the stage so Ike could sing his awesome solo song!
He played the keyboard/piano to it by himself too. It kicked ass. : )
Especially since this is one of my Fave Hanson songs...
Then they changed the set back to the way it was.... They made us scream
and stuff, asking us if we were having fun... we were.
12. "Speechless" They actually played it! WOW!
Then they played two non-Album songs. I know one of them wasn't a song
by them, and the second mystery song, they said was the last song they
play at the "Blue Rose Cafe" (at the mere mention of this place,
everybodt cheered...)
15."I Will Come To You"
(This was funny. EVERYBODY sang along!!!)
16. "A Minute Without You"
17. "Gimme Some Love" (again)
Tay introduced the back up musicians.... cool! This part was seriously
awesome, 'cause while they were playing, Ike went over to Tay, and
started to play the keyboard for him! Then Tay went back and took over
Zac's drums! Then Zac went to Ike and played the Keyboard and Ike went
back to his guitar!!!!!! And they never missed a beat!
18."MMMBop"
Everybody screamed MMMBOP!! when they brought out Tay's bongos... we
alll KNEW what was coming up next.
19. "Man From Milwaukee"
Tay let Zac sing lead for most of the song! Isn't that cool of him??? I
mean, it IS Zac's song, really.... And Zac didn't use the megaphone to
sing the "Baby Bird, Mother Bird, Do You Copy?" Part, he just _said_
it!! (HA HA HA!!!, I'm listening to the CD and that part's playing
now!!!)
Then *sob* they had to go. I mean, it was like more than an hour of
Hanson.... and the left the stage.... but we all just stood there and
cheered.... nobody moved...except the stupid people who thought it was
really over... but they stopped and came back when Hanson came back!!!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! They said they just couldn't leave us! : ) So then
they played:
20. "Look At You"
and 21. "Summertime Blues"
I LOVED THIS! 'Cause if you've ever heard this song, you know that
someone say this thing a few times in a really deep voice. Tay sung
lead, and Ike did "the voice".... the first two times it was a cool
voice that I just couldn't place... and the 3rd time he did the "Elvis"
voice he did on Oprah! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! : ) The nifty thing they did
here is that Ike played the keyboards again, and Tay just took a mike
and went to centerstage and sang! He got the whole audience into it too,
so we were all singing with Tay, and they made the song like 7 minutes
long!!!!!
Then they said they REALLY had to leave. They thanked all of us for
coming and stuff, and asked who all was in Moe. They talked a bit about
nothin'.. I forget what they said... they DID promised they'd be back to
Montreal next time they were on tour, and then just before they left,
they did a little bit of:
22. "Weird"... A CAPELLA!!!!
Just, y'know "Ohhhhh/Sittin' on the side/Waitin' for a sign/Hopin' that
my luck'll change/Rachin' for a hand that'll understand/Someone who
feels the same/When you live in a cookie-cutter world/Bein' different is
the same/So you don't stand out/But you don't fit in..... WEIRD."
Then they said "Thank you guys!", "Bye!!!" and they LEFT!!!!!!! The
lights went on, and everybody left.... of cousre, we we're supposed to
be back at the Hotel already, 'cause the concert took longer than we
thought it would. (Not that we minded...)
By then it was 10pm, and we made our way towards the exit... we got
side-tracked by the Souvenir stand, and the cash in our pockets.... I
spent about 70$ on a HUGE (Life-size or bigger...) 15$ poster of them
from the "Weird" video, and the words "Hanson! Live '98" and the
Albertane Tour Logo with all the cities in the tour... plus, a 35$ navy
T-Shirt with a nifty pic of them and the words HANSON HANSON HANSON on
it.... and a 12$ Keychain with HANSON on it... plus there was the cool
glowy-thingy I had on my neck that was 5$....
We got back to the Hotel half-an-hour late, my parents were pissed at
us, but WE DIDN'T CARE!!!!!! WE WERE HYPER!!!!!! WE JUST SAW
HANSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definetly worth driving NINE HOURS to go see! : )
