Wednesday, February 24, 1999 was the date of the 41st Annual Grammy Awards, and guess who got to take home music's most prestigious award?? That's right, none other than Miss Brandy Norwood herself!! Although Brandy did not recieve the award on the air, it is still really really great that she finally got the recognition she deserves and won a Grammy. Brandy and Monica won the Grammy for Best R&B Vocal Performace for an R&B Duo or Group. Brandy was up against some extremely talented musicians, and even some that she idolizes, like Lauryn Hill, K-Ci and JoJo, Kirk Franklin and Mary J. Blige and The Temptations, but Brandy's talent was regonized when she and Monica won the Grammy for their knock 'em dead hit single "The Boy Is Mine" which ruled the charts during the summer of '98. Brandy was also nominated for Record of the Year, Best R&B song,(these two were for TBIM) and Best R&B Album (Never Say Never). Brandy and Monica also presented an award during that night's awards ceremony, and Brandy's excitement and happiness over the award was obvious. Congratulations to Brandy for winning the Grammy she deserves!!!
