Steve Marker moved around a lot as a kid but spent his high school years in Mamaroneck, just a little bit north of New York City. His musical background started when he sat down in front of his uncle's drum kit at age six and picked up a guitar at age twelve. He studied film in college (University of Wisconsin, he studied with Vig). After getting to know Vig and Duke they formed garbage, went out looking for a singer and found Shirley. Steve handles the guitar, loops, and samples in garbage.
