On Thursday, I had a visit from an old friend named Wil, who was in town to promote his new fitness program. Wil has thick, curly, fiery red hair and green eyes and a fair complexion to match. Since he is a work-out guru, he is also well-built. He asked me to give him a medium-short buzz cut. Wil hadn’t had a cut in a while so his thick curly hair was about 4” all over.
I took out my Oster and put on the #2 (1/4”) attachment and clicked the clippers on. Starting in the back on the left, I ran the clippers up the back of his head from nape to crown. 3.75” of thick curly red hair fell to the floor. Slowly, and firmly buzz up nape to crown over and over until 1/4” fuzz was all that was left in back.
Then, I ran the clippers around his right ear towards his temple. Thick red curls showered the cape. Straight up the side of his head, buzz. Moving slowly and firmly up the side of his head, buzz. Mmm mmm good. Once I had finished buzzing the right side of his head, I trimmed his long, thick sideburns which were down to his earlobe. I left the attachment on and slowly buzzed up the right sideburn so it would be the same thickness as the rest of his cut. Then I took off the attachment and starting where the sideburn came down to the earlobe shaved off to half-way so he would have some left. I put the attachment back on the clippers and went to his left side and buzzed up his left sideburn and up the left side of his head to his temple. Again I took off the attachment and shaved off half of his long sideburn. I checked both sideburns to make sure they matched and then put the attachment back on the clippers.
Buzzing up the left side of his head, I reduced all those lovely, thick red curls to 1/4” fuzz. All over the left side of his head. Buzz. Fuzz. I tilted his head forward. Staying on his left side, I ran the clippers back across the top of his head. Thick red curls cascaded to the cape. Over and over across the top of his head, I mowed down fiery red curls, until nothing but fuzz was left. Then, I ran the clippers all over his head just to be sure it was all the same length. I clicked the clippers off and set them down.
I got the lotion out and lathered up around his ears and back of his neck. Carefully, and firmly I glided the straight razor around his ears and back of his neck, defining the edge and cleaning up. Then I lathered up his face and slowly and firmly shaved his oh, so handsome face. When I was done, I took out my fav, Wintergreen tonic, and slowly, firmly, rubbed it on his face and around his ears and the back of his neck.
Wil was very pleased and rubbed his hands all over his buzzed head and smiled his best Cheshire cat smile.
After Wil left, I started to close the shop because it was late in the day and I wanted to call it quits for the day. Someone came in at the last moment and asked if I had time for one more. Do I have time for one more - - - -
I thought I recognized him, but I wasn’t sure. He made small talk, this ‘n that and then mentioned he was taking a six month leave from the TV show he was on. Bingo, Cameron, plays Ryan on AMC. Knew it. Oh, my. Those blue eyes are intense and that smile could melt steel. He said that he wanted something he had never had and since he was going to be away from TV regulations for six months, he wanted to try it. Would I shave his head? After I mentally picked myself up off the floor, I said sure.
Cameron generally has straight, thick brown hair that is about 2” long all over with longish sideburns. Well none of that would last long. I picked up my Oster without attachment and clicked it on. Starting on his right sideburn I shaved up the side of his head to his temple. 2” of thick brown hair came showering down. Then I shaved straight back from his temple and in three slow, firm swipes the right side of Cameron’s head was shaved.
Moving to the back, I shaved straight up the back of his head, slowly, firmly in a kind of slow rhythm. Thick brown hair flew everywhere. In five careful swipes the back of his head was shaved. Continuing to his left side, I shaved around his left ear towards the front. I slowly and firmly shave off his left sideburn and continued up the side of his head. Then I shaved straight back. In three slow, firm swipes I shaved the left side of Cameron’s head.
I tilted his head forward and staying on his left side, I ran the clippers back across the top of his head. 2” of thick, brown spiky hair fell to the cape. In four, slow, firm swipes back across the top of his head, I removed the hair from the top of his head. I ran the clippers all over his head slowly and firmly. Then I clicked off the clippers and set them down.
I took out the shaving cream and slowly rubbed it all over his beautifully bald head. Then I took out my new Mach 3. Starting on his left side, I slowly and carefully glided the razor back across his head. Then I rubbed my thumb where I had just shaved. (To see if it was smooth enough of course.) All over his head, long, slow, firm swipe with the razor and long, slow, firm rub with my thumb. Again and again until Cameron was smooth as glass. Then, I lathered up that stunning face and slowly and carefully shaved his face the same way with long, slow firm swipe with the razor and long, slow, firm rub with my thumb all over his face until it too was smooth.
Then I got out the Wintergreen tonic and slowly and firmly rubbed it all over his smooth head and face. Rubbing over and over methodically, rhythmically, all over his head and face. It was over too soon. Cameron was in a trance-like state by this time and I was glad I had my barber’s tunic on.
Cameron got up and rubbed his hands all over his very smooth head and face and laughed and looked in the mirror and laughed some more. He said that he loved it and would keep it this way. Be still my beating heart.
