Biography


Barry Pepper was born in 1970. He hails from Canada and lived in Vancouver, British Columbia, though he had an unconventional upbringing. From age five, he spent three years traveling with his family to places like Fiji, Tahiti, and New Zealand on a boat which they built themselves.

Pepper is one of Canada's fastest rising stars. His films include the Canadian production Urban Safari, which premiered at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival, Firestorm (1996), Pepper's second feature film, and Saving Private Ryan (1998) where Pepper plays the Bible scripture-quoting Tennessee sharpshooter, Private Jackson, along side the likes of Tom Hanks, Matt Damon and writer, director, actor, Edward Burns.

Pepper started acting only four years ago. He enrolled in acting classes in Vancouver, and has performed in such plays as "Equus" and "The Taming of the Shrew."
