OUR LADY PEACE IN EDMONTON
Edmonton Coliseum, January 23, 1998
This is OLP in Edmonton, Alberta; these pictures are mostly of Raine because the newspaper didn't have any of the other guys photographed. We also added our reviews of the concert.

Reviews, no?>
Well, the show that OLP put on at the Edmonton Coliseum is something I'll never forget, seeing as it was my first official concert and the most amazing experience in the world. It was on a Friday, which was both good and bad, the bad part being that we had to sit through classes while we knew it was only 5,4,3 hours away (yes, we did count down the hours and minutes). Anyway, after school we went to my house; we made the mistake of not watching the news, we heard my dad yell: "Our Lady Peace is on the news!" We didn't get to see it though, due to me running into my room and my friend running out of my room, and receiving a few bruises from that. But, we did finally leave for the concert, after eating pork chops, rice, and drinking lemonade.
I should probably get to the concert now, huh? We got frisked and watched Everclear perform, which was very cool, then they played a version of The Twilight Zone (the dummy). When OLP came on, everybody stood up and cheered. They began with 'Automatic Flowers', I don't remember the order of what they played, or some of the songs, I just remember how amazing it was. While singing, Raine was walking along the front of the stage, he paused to lean down and slap a fan's hand. Duncan played a beautiful version of 'Julia' on the piano, and Mike and Jeremy just plain kicked ass. We didn't see Jeremy at all, but we did see Duncan and Mike a few times. (We had some really tall guys standing in front of us) During 'Neon Crossing', Raine came off stage and walked around in the first few rows of seats. They had everything a kick-ass show needed, awesome light show and personality. While explaining 'Trapeze', the spotlight on Raine turned off. In darkness, we just heard him say: "Hey buddy, turn that light back on, I'm trying to tell my friends a story here." If you ask me, some of the best professionals are the ones who aren't alienated from their fans, and treat them as equals. Anyway, they played '4am' and 'Clumsy' as the encore, leaving us wanting more. The show was about an hour and a half long. We got in the car to go home, and heard some screaming coming from the side of the Coliseum, the way we were going to drive out. We were looking around, and saw a light colored Toyota in front of us with people crowding around it. We stopped behind it (we were turning out of the parking lot) and, the bright lights that we are, figured out that they must be in the car. However, my dad refused to follow them, and we turned left.....as they turned right. On the way home, we listened to the radio which played a lot of live songs from the concert and a few recorded ones. We were completly satisfied from the concert, I think we got more than we expected, and I don't think I'll ever forget the u.f.o lights, the mismatched red shirt, the air ducts or the man in the black shirt. We later heard that OLP didn't leave town until 6pm Saturday, and we kicked ourselves for staying home. Anyway, those are my memories; hey, who's the opening act?
