The Essential Remixes
Brentwood Essential
Though this CD is a little sparse on new material, it does contain some rather tasty tracks. Included in the Essential remixes are three each from Jars Of Clay, Eric Champion, and Imagine This, plus "bonus tracks" from Rhythm of Creation-Voice Of Africa and Hypersonic/Praise House.

From Jars, there are the Flood Savage Flavor remix, the Liquid "SJM" Remix, and the Fluffy-Sav Smoothed Out Mix of Blind. Nothing new here, but still a little ear candy. The Blind mix is good, but the Flood mix has been played for all it's worth already.

From Eric Champion, there are three new mixes from his Transformation release: Sparkle In Your Beat, Dress Me Up, and Life Form. Sparkle and Dress Me are both good mixes, well worth looking at for New Year's celebrations. Life Form, however, just doesn't have the same life as the other two.

Imagine This, who already have an eclectic sound, buzz in with Feel, Munkey Jump, and Love. Munkey is another tune with a good crunch, another that will find it's way into my holiday festivities. However, Feel and Love both left me a little flat.

The two "bonus tracks" are both almost average, compared with other remix discs I've had a chance to peruse. Emmanuel, the track from Hypersonic/Praise House, has a danceable beat, but quickly becomes annoyingly familiar. Silindili (We Are Waiting,) the track from Rhythm Of Creation - Voice Of Africa, lost my attention soon after it started. Not good news for a dance-fan.

All in all, the disc is worth checking out (there are some treasures hidden in the grooves) but don't set your expectations too high.
