Hard call to pick a fave Bill Butler track. "Right Track" is a stonking
classic and those STRINGS (!), but this tune is different from the others, it
doesn’t have that unmistakable Curtis Mayfield touch. This is the flip of the
also excellent "My Heart Is Hurtin’". You’ll see W. E. Butler billed as Billy
Butler, Billy Butler and the Chanters, Billy Butler and the Enchanters, and
Billy Butler & the Four Enchanters. I heard "Nevertheless" spun at the SF Mod
Night one of the two times I visited, and it sounded great slightly sped up.
(Is that a real faux pas to liking that tampering or even practicing the
tampering of a song’s speed? I know funk DJ’s do it, but that’s a different
kind of thing, solely dance oriented)
