Entertainment Tonight Interview

May 26, 1997

Intro to segment - a soundbite...

Julie Moran (Intro): Keanu Reeves is without question one of the hottest
young actors in Hollywood, but any producer looking to land Keanu
in a film might do well to first check the tour schedule of one up
and coming rock band. Because what Keanu really wants to do is rock.

He’s known as a "Hollywood Superstar," but when Keanu Reeves straps on
his bass, he’s just one of the guys in a band called Dogstar.

JM: Are you guys getting ready to play tonight?

Dogstar: Yes.

Keanu: We’re the opening band in, uh, Hollywood, CA.

Rob Mailhouse: Yes.

KR: We’re, um, one of the 4 bands.

(Plays brief clip)

JM: The band is sampling music from their first full length
album, Our Little Visionary, which is available on Dogstar’s website. The
group admits Keanu’s name carries weight though it can be a mixed blessing.

Bret Domrose: When we want to put the album out, people don’t
like that idea because he’s "Keanu Reeves - the movie star."

JM: Being a movie star also creates some interesting rehearsal
schedules.

BD: Keanu was shooting a movie in Chicago, and we flew out there
for a couple of weeks. And we got like, uh, a warehouse and
rehearsed and everything.

KR: We have little hiatuses, and then, we can get quite intense...

BD: Yeah.

KR: ... Kinda draw ourselves into it pretty intensely.

JM: The band is currently preparing to promote their album with
a cross country tour.

KR: We’re going on tour.

JM: You’re excited.

RM: Get to go across America.

BD: Yeah.

KR: Get to go across America.

RM: Know what I’m sayin’?

JM: The rock trio is playing more than 50 shows in less than 70 days, and
Keanu says it’s the energy of a live audience that keeps his
adrenaline going.

KR: Yeah, you know, it’s one of the best parts of... about playing,
I mean. We... that’s why we’re doing it. We play live. We’re
a band.

(Cut to end of a concert.)

BD: Thanks guys! We’re Dogstar. Goodnight!

JM (Back to studio): Well, Keanu must do it for the love of music
because it is not for the money. He’s admitted that for gigs in
the past, Dogstar’s pay for their performance was... free beer.
You can get to Keanu’s new CD by computer at www.dogstarfan.com and their
tour rolls on this week. Dogstar hits Las Vegas, Tempe, Tuzon and Albuquerque.
