The Show Must Go On!

Although devastated by the death of former love Michael Hutchence, Kylie didn't disappoint her fans and sang through her tears

For Kylie Minogue it must have seemed like a bad dream. There she was, performing in front of adoring audience of thousands at a gay club in London while at the same time the love of her life, rock star Michael Hutchence, lay on the other side of the world in the Glebe morgue.

News of the tragedy reached the 29 year old songstress just hours before she was to appear on stage. Promoters expected her to pull out of the event but, proving herself a trooper, she decided she couldn't let her supporters down.

Kylie and Michael had a passionate two year affair that begun when he telephoned to apologise for criticising her in the press. It wasn't long before opposites attracted. Michael helped Kylie drop her goody-two-shoes image and put her first love Jason Donovan in the past. It was a time of self discovery for Kylie that turned her from a girl into a woman. For a while at least there was talk of marriage.

Kylie and Michael separated in 1991 but remained good friends. Now, only memories remain.

After the show brave Kylie immediately left for the long-haul flight to Australia for Michael's funeral - one trip home she'd rather not be making.
