With the X Factor tour wrapped up mid 1991, INXS had started working on their new album Welcome To Wherever You Are almost immediately. .After Christmas the album was near completion, and ready for release later in 1992. INXS though, found time to play a Concert For Life in late March.

The Concert For Life played to seventy thousand people on Saturday March 28th, 1992 and was broadcast to Triple J's one million listeners all around Australia. .The event raised over six-hundred thousand dollars for Sydney's St Vincent's Hospital.

On the eve of the concert everything was set and the seventy thousand were ready to make their way to Centennial Park to witness the best of Australia's musical talent. .The gates opened at 8.00am and by the time Def FX appeared on stage around 11.30am, the crowd had surpassed the fifty thousand mark. .The crowd warmed to the sounds of Yothu Yindi and then came alive as Jenny Morris, Ratcat, Johnny Diesel and eventually Crowded House performed their stuff.

By 6.00pm Centennial Park was at it's peak in time to witness what they had come for.

INXS appeared on stage, Michael Hutchence in a white suit and the band delivering their music which sent the seventy thousand plus crowd over the edge. Songs like New Sensation, Suicide Blonde and Taste It justify why INXS are one of the best live bands in the world. A variety of new songs from WTWYA were performed live for the first time to a large crowd. .The encore proved no different. .With an orchestra lined behind Jon Farriss, the band played to the tunes of Baby Don't Cry and Never Tear Us Apart.

As the concert wound up, the crowd disembarked proud of the level that Australia music has reached. The artists to, were enlightened that so many people support their own culture aswell as supporting the benefits of the Concert For Life.

The concert raised over $600 000 for the hospital and generally was described as a win win event. .The hospital recieved money they normally wouldn't get, the artists got to perform to a 70 000 strong audience and the crowd got to see the absolute cream of Australian music live for $21.00

In the words of the artists
