Notes: A complete recording of the show which produced the Who's legendary album Live At Leeds. This recording is unedited, featuring not only all of the Tommy songs left off of the remastered CD, but also more material that was shaved off of the officially released songs. ("Shakin' All Over" for instance, includes the medley version of "Spoonful" which was cut out of the official version). No studio effects here, like the additional echo and the backwards guitar at the start of "Magic Bus" which Townhend added for the album. There is a slight tape-speed problem during the middle portion of Tommy, but nothing major. A terrific bootleg of a legendary concert. Studying this recording in contrast to the official album is quite revealing.

17. My Generation

Notes: A great concert, parts of which can be seen in the home video release Thirty Years Of Maximum R&B Live ("Heaven And Hell," "I Can't Explain," and "Water"). The sound rating varies from 7 to 9 on my scale, because the recording starts out very roughly, with some very noticeable dropouts between numbers. This problem clears up after the first ten minutes and the rest of the show is very clear and enjoyable. A typical awesome 1970 performance, featuring the bulk of Tommy. Unfortunately, about ten songs (roughly a third of the show) is unavailable.
