UPDATES

June 24, 1999: Hi there! I notice it's been more than a year since I last made any changes to this site--sorry for the lack of updates, but I've been awfully busy. Since I last posted any changes, I've graduated from college and am presently preparing to move to another city. I also have a new ISP and e-mail address (see below), so I'm sorry if you haven't gotten any response from "seanrock@webtv.net." Now that I have a little free time, I thought I'd work on adding some notable updates for the summer, but I must caution that I've been out of the loop of Who fandom for awhile. If you're new to The Who and are looking for the most up-to-date information, I highly recommend that you join the Who mailing list "Odds And Sods," the homepage of which is at www.thewho.net/odds&sods . TheWho.net is a terrific site run by some very avid and knowledgable fans, most of whom post to the mailing list on a regular basis.

If you have any questions about my pages or The Who in general, please submit them to me at my current e-mail address, rockwell@adams.net; if I can't help, I'll try to point you to a fellow fan who can. Notice however that I will be moving in August and changing ISPs again, so don't try to reach me at this address after 7/31/99. Also, don't bother using the form below for now, as I will be temporarily unable to see the results. I have given up trading Who shows until I can get a CD burner. My trading page will return later this year.

As for Who updates, here are a few things to look for over the summer and into the fall: In July, new CDs by The John Entwistle Band (Left For Live on J-Bird Records) followed in September by a live double CD by Pete Townshend, featuring material recorded at the Chicago House Of Blues in 1997 and 1998. Also in September, MCA is scheduled to release the long-awaited The Who: Live At The BBC, one track of which "My Generation" has recently been issued on the soundtrack to Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. Plans for the King Biscuit release of a 1973 Who performance of Quadrophenia are apparently "indefinitely on hold" as are other such previously announced projects as a double-disc live anthology covering the Keith Moon era and a remastered, expanded edition of My Generation which was originally to be released in 1996! If I hear anything about these last three items, I'll post it here.

June 18, 1998: Well, summer is here and I've got a chance to add more revisions and refinements to these pages. Hopefully you've noticed that this site is now part of the new Who Webring. Please check out all the interesting Who sites in the ring!

Song lyrics for all of the Who's official recordings are now available on this site, including interesting lyrical variations from Pete's demos and other alternate versions.

Thanks to the excellent book The Who Concert File by Joe McMichael and "Irish" Jack Lyons (with major contributions by John Atkins) I've been able to revisit the issue of recording dates and venues for the Who's work. Their work in nailing down the Who's tour itineraries and TV appearances has helped me get more accurate information about the studio recordings. This will soon be reflected on the main song information pages, but for now, check out the (incomplete) Recording Chronology. Keep in mind it's a "work-in-progress." Much more will be added in time.

Here is a run-down of other features planned for this site:

A page listing all official albums along with the tracks that appear on them--according to the version numbers I use on my pages--is just about finished.

The appendix featuring information about the various personnel who have played in the Who and off-shoot bands is finished and can be linked to from most of my pages.

Longer-term plans:
A page listing all official video releases by the Who.
Separate "databases" for the solo work of Entwistle, Moon, Daltrey, & Townshend.
Notes on the circumstances involved in the writing and recording of certain Who songs and concerts.
A page with links to other excellent sources of Who information on the Web.

If you are a regular visitor, or just a passerby, I'd appreciate a little feedback to make these pages better. Don't want to knock myself out putting up information nobody wants, right? So fill out these little forms for me (pretty please?).
