NOTES

These are the criteria for inclusion in this list: 1) the track has appeared on an album, single, or EP released by the Who or their record companies; 2) the track has appeared on a various artists compilation or promotional album (i.e. Woodstock, The House That Track Built) and is credited to the Who; and 3) the track has been performed by two or more members of the Who.

When the performers featured on a track differ from the normal Who line-up, or when members of the Who play other than their traditional instruments, this is noted in the entry.

The different versions of a track are listed chronologically within each entry, according to the earliest known date of official release (thus, a version recorded in 1967 may appear after one recorded in 1989). Substantially different versions of the same recording which appear due to remixing or editing are counted as separate versions, but sonic improvements made to the same mix of a track (such as digital remastering or use of Dolby noise reduction) are not noted.

I've compiled the information on these pages from a number of sources, and wish to give credit where it is due. Almost all information regarding recording dates comes from the liner notes of Who LP's, especially the recent MCA/Polydor rereleases. Information on release dates comes primarily from the discography by Ed Hanel which appears in the liner notes to the box set Thirty Years Of Maximum R&B. All other information was processed in "catch-as-catch-can" fashion from a variety of sources, most of which appear below under Sources.
