THE DEBUT ALBUM
The self-titled debut album from Savage Garden was released on Monday, 24th March 1997, throughout Australia. The album debuted in the National charts at Number 1, an amazing achievement from a band who literally came out of nowhere to bring this exciting blend of melodies and lyrics. Already three singles from the album have gone platinum.

I WANT YOU SINGLE
I Want You was the first single that the boys from Savage Garden released. It began charting on July, 21st, 1996. The single then went platinum and peaked at Number 4 on the Australian Charts, selling over 80,000 copies in the process. 'I Want You' was infact the highest selling single for any Australia act in 1996. This single was recently released in America and even reached the Number 1 position on the Billboard Top 100 singles charts. It also debuted at Number 1 in Canada. Well Done Guys!!!

TO THE MOON & BACK SINGLE
The second single from Savage Garden proved many people wrong who thought the guys were just "one hit wonders". (As If!). The song was mainly written by Daniel Jones on his keyboard, but Darren Hayes took it away and came back with the song as it is today. It first began to chart on November 24th, 1996 and quickly found its way up into the Top 10. For a while there it looked like the guys would have to be stuck with a Number 4 hit again, but lo and behold right after the summer holidays it found itself right up at the top of the charts! Just like I Want You, the single went platinum and sold more than 70,000 copies!

TRULY, MADLY, DEEPLY SINGLE
The third and arguably the most successful single from Savage Garden was Truly, Madly, Deeply. It began charting on the 16th March 1997 and after just three weeks in it became Number 1 on the National Charts. Truly, Madly, Deeply was actually one of the last songs that Darren and Daniel wrote for the album. In total, the single was on top for a massive 8 weeks! Congratulations Guys!!!

BREAK ME, SHAKE ME SINGLE
The fourth single from Savage Garden has just been released in the last week. On June 16th, 1997 saw Break Me, Shake Me go on sale for a special 'one day only' price of just $4.95. After that, it went back to it's normal price, but trust me, this didn't affect it selling like hotcakes! The cassingle features a live, acoustic version of Break me, Shake Me, plus an exclusive B-side track, I Bet He Was Cool, which is not on the album. Those who went to any of the Oz concerts may remember this song, but for those who haven't heard it, let me tell you, it's fast becoming one of my favourite songs! Definitely as good as any other Savage Garden song! (The acoustic version of Break Me, Shake me rocks too!)
