Lennon:"This was written after an acid trip during a break in the Beatle Tour[August 1965-his second acid trip]where we were having fun with the byrds and lots of girls...Peter Fonda cmae in when we were on acid and kept coming up to me and whispering"I know what it's like to be dead".He was descriding and acid trip he had been on.
Recorded:June 21,1966,at Abbey Road,during the final session for the album.Took nine hours total to record it.
