It's easy to overlook the fact that singer and guitarist Bret Domrose (center) is the star of Dogstar since bass player Keanu Reeves is the band's movie star (yes, on the right). That tends to take the focus off the music, but Domrose says the group is building a following for its moody, melodic alt-rock. We'll take him at his word and give props to the bass player, too, who's between day jobs and traveling in the same beat-up bus as his band mates. Dogstar plays Sneakers, 11431 Perrin Beitel, tonight, with Silver Jet opening. Go to see Keanu, if you must, but if you like the music, pick up a copy of Dogstar's new CD, produced by Ed Stasium (The Ramones, Living Colour). The guys have got to eat, after all.
