Using the newly changed name 'The Cure' recorded demos financed by Simon Gallup's brother. Simon was still not in the band at this point. It cost under 50 pounds including the beer. This recording tape, and a picture was sent to the major record labels to try to get a real contract. Five responded with rejection letters, Polydor LTD responded with an acceptence letter.
