March 11, 2005: As Melinda and Melinda nears its US release date (3/18/05 - one week from today!), articles, interviews, and reviews are slowly starting to trickle in. I've created a Reviews/Articles page for the film, which you can find by clicking here. The early word is quite good, and the majority of the reviews say this is one of Woody's better films in quite a while...So don't forget to go out and see it next weekend.
February 2005:"It's something that occurs to me many times in my movies. They can often be treated comically or dramatically, and I usually opt to treat them comically. But it occurred to me that you could get a story and you could fool around with it both ways." - Woody Allen, 2004

January 17, 2005:Melinda and Melinda has officially been rated "PG-13". It is still set to open in limited release on March 18, 2005, with the tagline: "Life can be a comedy or a tragedy, it all depends on how you look at it..."
October 22, 2004: Well, turns out I was wrong about the release date Melinda and Melinda. Despite being widely released in Spain next week (10/29), it looks like the film won't actually be released in the US until March 18, 2005. No official word has yet been given on why Fox Searchlight has decided to push it back, but if you're interested in seeing some footage from Woody's latest (albeit, dubbed in Spanish), follow this link to the official Spanish website, which currently features a trailer for the film.

April 8, 2004: Thanks to an email from a site reader, it seems we now know a little bit more about the plot of the film:
"Gene Saks and Wallace Shawn play writers who have a discussion about the merits of their styles. One is a writer of tragedy; one is a writer of comedy. Both tell the same love story and the two versions are enacted on screen. The comedic version stars Will Ferrell and the dramatic version stars the lead from Dirty Pretty Things." Sounds interesting, indeed. (Thanks Dennis!)
March 2004:Woody Allen's latest film, Melinda and Melinda, is currently in post-production and should be hitting theatres in late 2004. Allen is no longer under contract with Dreamworks Pictures, and this film will be released by Fox Searchlight. Not a whole lot has been leaked out about the project, except for the film's name and its cast. Will Ferrell stars alongside Amanda Peet, Vinessa Shaw, Josh Brolin, Steve Carrell, Sabrina Lloyd, Radha Mitchell, Chlo Sevigny, and Wallace Shawn. Some of you might remember that when this project was first announced, Robert Downey, Jr. was set to star in the lead role (now filled by Ferrell) - but had to drop out because his insurance premium was too high to cover.
