Review: This time it's a double cd with ninety minutes of music...quite an amazing feat many bands would have failed. But Virgin Steele is no ordinary band. The second and final act of the Atreides saga is carefully divided in two cds, both keeping the VS trademark of course but different: the first cd deals with the most bloody acts (vengeance, the killing of Klytemnestra and Aegysthosby the hand of Orestes) so it's the heavier and more epic one. The second cd deals with the persecution of Orestes and most of allthe actual themeofthe greek play-the conflict between law and justice: it's time for a lenghty, superb symphonic rock opus influenced by Angel in a certain way. Absolutely magnificent, a gigantic musical sculpture nobody should miss. Still, no matter how ambitious and rich Act II is, it's never ridicolous nor redundant, but it flows easily charming the listener and keeping true tothe original spirit of Aeschylus' script. One final consideration thought for myself: I'd like to see VS bringing back the hard rock element they had in the past, clearly out of place in the latest works but missed...

Line up: David DeFeis (vocals, keyboard, synth bass), Edward Pursino (guitar, bass guitar), Frank Gilchriest (drums).
