Review:This is the album which is very different from the others. It takes completely a Whitesnake like direction (a metallic sound close to the "1987" album but with a strong bluesy soul coming out of true Whitesnake - of albums like "Ready And Willing" and "Lovehunter") and leaves the traditional epic VS sound apart. But it's a great hard rock album! Pure gems of melodic hard rock, with the precious solos of Edward spread all around and the usual immense voice of David, like "Jet Black", "Sex Religion Machine", "Too Hot Too Handle" or "Crown Of Thorns" are wonderful, a real pleasure if you like this eternal kind of music and listen without prejudice. There are also four graceful ballads for the most romantic of you... One more thing: you can't accuse VS of commercial tentative with "Life Among The Ruins" because an album like this in 1993 doesn't give you any kind of mass success!

Line up: David DeFeis (vocals, keyboard), Edward Pursino (guitar), Rob De Martino (bass guitar), Joey Ayvazian (drums).
