Review: (warning: since the two albums have been written at the same time and the style is omogenous, they are part of the same concept so the review is the same for both) with these albums the epic VS sound just comes back - but time passed by since "Noble Savage" and although the band's trademark is istantly recognizable, the progression is as evident. A progression concerning the arrangement and song architectures, which become deeper, more complex and deeply classically influenced. David changes his vocal timbric a hundred times during the album and even the most immediate tracks (like "Blood And Gasoline", "Weeping Of The Spirits" or "The Raven Song", "Crown Of Glory", "Victory Is Mine", hte fantastic heavy/aor "Unholy Water") feature elegantly crafted armonies and a lot of shades - the sign a band has true class (well, it was no mistery). Most of all, the role of the keyborard has gradually changed: in the past, David's keys had the traditional Rainbow conception, creating a majestic carpet for the rest of the band, while now they actually simulate a true orchestra interplaying with rock instruments. Keys and piano become just deeply rooted in the song structure now, the basis upon which Virgin Steele will develop in the following works. Conceptually speaking the two "Marriage" deal with the unity of opposites in a very complex and poetic way - definetly an album wich shouldn't be missed, in my opinion the best albums Virgin Steele released in the '90. Mythologic, passionate, graceful and visionary heavy metal.
