Review:the very first Virgin Steele album is caught between an epic metal of strong Rainbow influence (like the clip "Children Of The Storm" clearly proves) and class rock tracks, in my opinion not as great as the one they'll do on the following albums. "Danger Zone", "Children Of The Storm", "Virgin Steele" show the great potentials of a band expanding the borders of what Blackmore did with Rainbow, developing further the melting between heavy rock and classical music; "American Girl", "Dead End Kid", "Drive On Thru" and "Pictures Of You" are easy listening tracks (and no bad about this) which sadly anybody could have done, "Living In Sin" is a very powerful track in the vein of Riot and "Still In Love With You" an intense, build-up power ballad full of magnificent keys. Overall a discontinuous work, displaying an immature band with great possibilities.

Line up: David DeFeis (vocals, keyboard), Jack Starr (guitar), Joe O'Reilly (bass guitar), Joey Ayvazian (drums).
