THE "MARRIAGE ALBUMS" CONCEPT IN BRIEF
I've been asked many times if the Marriage albums form a unified concept, so I'll explain here my thoughts about it - thoughts David himself confirmed as a right interpretation.
First let's have a look at the conclusive chapter, "Invictus": it's a story about the gods fearing the yet-to-be-born son of two human lovers, Endyamon and Emalaith, who according to the legend will dethrone and slay them - the start of a new age, the age of man.
So the gods kill Endyamon and Emalaith for their own survival, but the two reincarnate and marry again and so the gods have to kill them again - and this happened many times! Many times the two humans had to face terrible deaths, until one day they realize they've reincarnated and been slain many times by the gods themselves, so it's time for revenge. The revenge itself is the story of "Invictus", what the various reincarnations had to face is represented by the stories of the Marriage Albums, which are not at a first glance tied together in any way - it's all part of a greater plot!
