The revelation of Christian Sbrocca's script is no mystery to those of us who watched his story unfold as his soul took flight from hockey player to musician. The story began on January 22, 1974 in Montreal, where Christian was born the son of an Italian father and French-Canadian mother. His first love, hockey gave him an understanding of dedication, discipline and the glory attached to the success of the underdog. The game enabled him to obtain a college scholarship, to travel, and to discover new worlds and cultures. However, as Christian held his hockey stick in one hand, his fans were just as excited to see his guitar case in the other. In fact, it became a ritual for fans to pack local bars where Christian would sing after his games and as the night would progress, the hockey player fell into the shadow of the musician.
During the winter of 1997-1998, Christian lived in Italy where he played his last pro hockey season. Within months, he polished his knowledge of the language from the old country and was soon able to converse in French, English and Italian. Although he had written one song prior to his arrival in Italy, the seclusion and beauty of the Italian Alps inspired him to write 8 more that winter. It was then, at the age of 24, that he had the premonition that a change was soon to take place. He surrendered himself to the melodies in his head and unlatched the musician he was; a singer-sonwriter with the soul of a dreamer, a poet, a magician, a lonely little boy and something else... This deeper understanding of himself in all its shades of black, white and especially grey brought forth the honesty in the lyrics of his mucis.
Christian began his new journey not long after his return home from Italy. He wrote one more song and by January 1999, only 6 months later, his first album "My Script" was recorded. As Christian would say, "We all have a script that is our own. The question is, are we ready to reveal it to ourselves and to the world - No matter the price to pay?"
