Battle of the Bands, it's all in a name isn't it? So, 10 bands, 15mins each, full P.A. and lighting rig. Main prizes were, 9 hours recording in a top studio and support slot at a QM gig. The competition took place on 13th March 1999, some of the other bands taking part had been gigging for over three years. By the gig we had been playing for a total of 5-6 weeks, total rehearsal time 14hrs. The second place band are well known in Glasgow and in Europe, they also opened the Main stage at T in The Park this year. I am talking of course about The Amphetameanies. There were no Judges, it was all based on tickets, after the bands had finished, ten boxes were brought out, and the crowd had to write the name of the band they wanted to vote for on the back of the ticket stub and put it in the matching box. After twenty mins of counting the result. The Amphetameanies in second place and Marlow the winners. It was a damned good feeling, we didn't stop bouncing for days.
