In the beginning, they were four kids from Belo Horizonte, MG (Max,Igor,Paulo,Jairo). When they started playing, they were teenagers and they were still in school studying(Max once told he learned how to speak english by listening to MotorHead songs). Vania Cavalera (Max and Igor's mother) perceived her sons ability for music, and she asked the other band memebers parents to let the kids quit school. This way vanis demonstrated how much faith she put on those kids. So, all of them were about 7th grade or so and stopped to do what thier destiny was awaiting to happen: show the world thier talent. They already had many fans in their country, but in Brazil would be very hard to get somewhere with thier kind of music, due to labels investing in other music genres that times. In fact, anywhere would be hard. Thrash Metal has never been a priority in most people world wide. The more heavy the band is, the more difficult the situation for it becomes and of course it is for this reason a lot of good bands have not had its opportunity yet. Max probably had a solution, he traveled alone to the USA to try something more for the band, and he succeded. They had a great musical improvement from Schizophrenia on....mainly because a guy from Sao Paulo, from the Pestilence band, joined the band.His name was Andreas Rudolf Kisser. He has always been a great guitar player, some people say he is one of the best guitarist in the world. Until Arise they played in a heavy fury, after that thier style changed adding a heavy tribal rhythm, but both styles thier lyrics have always been aggressive and meaningful. It has been 14 years of touring for Sepultura, composing and playing together and this used the Sepultribe until producers started asking the members how to act on stage and how to look. Max says that they could of hired a super roadie and a better bass player but he didn't fire no one because they were a tribe!! but its all over now . To Max Sepultribe is over.
