Mark Weitz's Side of the story

This Is an E-mail we recieved from Mark Weitz in its un-edited form.
Hey Graeme,
I finally checked out the SHRINE. Nice job. How about some Pict's to display.????

P.s. Randy Seol ( Drummer SAC) was not in thee sixpence. Gene Gunnells was the drummer. There cannot be two drummers. The lineup was: Ed King- guitar- lead
Lee Freeman -guitar/harmonica
Steve Rabe -guitar-rhythm
Gary Lovetro-bass
Gene Gunnels- drums
Mike Luciano- lead vocals.

I joined the band while it was still named Thee Sixpence in late '66 or real early '67, can't remember exactly. Mike Luciano was quitting the band. Saw him perform 2 times while I was in the band. Steve Rabe quit shortly thereafter. Line-up was then: Renamed to the Strawberry Alarm Clock. ( I had the strawberry part, Lee helped w/ the alarm clock part.)

Ed King -Bass/Lead Guita/vocals
Mark Weitz -Keyboards/organ/vocals
Gary Lovetro-Bass guitar
Gene Gunnels-Drums
Lee Freeman-Rhythm guitar/harmonica/vocals

Gene Gunnels left group.Randy & George joined. We wrote first album.
Late 67 New Line-up:

Mark S. Weitz - Leader-Keyboards/organ/Vocals
Ed King-Lead Guitar/Vocals
Lee Freeman-Rhythm guitar/Harmonica/ Lead Vocals
Randy Seol-Drims/Vibes/Percussion/Lead Vocals
George Bunnell-Bass/Vocals
Gary Lovetro-Bass
'68 Gary Lovetro was dismissed from group.
We Continued on as a 5 pc.Group for 2 years.

Then: Randy And George left group and were part of a a fraud alarm clock started by our X-manager that we had fired!( Bill Holmes).

Still we carried on as the original SAC. We had to get a "restraining order" to keep the so-called fraud SAC from performing. They dis-obeyed it anyway and kept doing gigs against the court order. I tried to sue Holmes for a Million Dollars, but he was un-servable...at the time, and I gave up.

Alarm Clock '69 was:

Mark S. Weitz-Keyboards
Jim Pittman-Lead Guitar/Lead Vocals
Gene Gunnels-Drums
Lee Freeman-Lead & Rhythm/Lead Vocals
Ed King-Lead Guitar/BASS

The group went bankrupt due to lawsuites flying all over the place from a tangled mess of legal problems the emanated from our X-manager and his inability to have paid off our prior travel bills while on tour.

some how, though, Ed, Lee, Gene, And a new guy named Paul Marshall tried to exist as the SAC for about 3 years, until Ed joined Skynard. Then it was officially over.

Note: Several musicians out there have claimed to have been in the original Strawberry Alarm Clock. If there name doesn't exist on this list of name I gave you, they were probably in one of the FRAUD groups that posed as the orig. SAC. Talk to ya soon w/more dope...if ya want it. Keep Rockin, Weitz.(spOOky)
