Herman Danza, Music Reviewer - 12/05/00 02:54:16 Favorite Band: M31 | Comments: M31 "THE FRONTIER PROJECT" ALBUM REVIEW!!! Over two years after its intitial release, M31 has finally re-released their tremendous debut album and are simultaneously making their major label debut on Geffen Records. While "old-skool" fans have criticized the band for "selling out," the band claims that the added exposure that Geffen will give them will allow them to spread their political message to more and more people. "We're not letting anything get to our heads," claimed guitarist Seth Gremaud from his new 2001 Hyundai Tiburon, a "gift from my parents." Bassist Matt Bailey quickly agreed, saying, "We will NOT compromise our music whatsoever," as he double-knotted his brand new "Air Jordan" sneakers. Label-mate and lifelong fan Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth claimed, after seeing M31's blockbuster show at the Black Cat in Washington DC, "THIS SHIT'S FUCKING LIVE, MAN!!!" And live it was. Guitars were plugged into amplifiers, the crowd was given full view of almost the entire band, with the noted exception of drummer Adam Gremaud, whose head and sometimes arms were fully visible, and noted producer, "Bruce," was not telling any members of the band that they were off pitch. This reviewer must highly recommend "The Frontier Project." It is a true tour-de-force, redefining what can be considered "music" or our entire generation. Frontman Brian Siems, while being interviewed during the initial recording process, stated, "We're trying to be the first band in history to make an album that will not only make parents tell their kids to turn down the volume, but actually make the kids want to turn down the volume themselves." The band has succeeded, and it remains as true today is it was two years ago. Tracks scheduled for singles include "Star-Crossed," "Drifting Towards Infinity," and the already famous, "The D Song," but, unfortunately, despite numerous requests, the fan favorite, "Element Troopers" still does not appear in any form. For the true hardcore M31 fan, however, this reviewer suggests picking up the DVD version of the album, which includes a special bonus video of drummer Adam Gremaud urinating in a toilet, with the video spliced and looped in order to give the effect of an endless pee. A favorite of the band's on their tours and a favorite of our's as well! FUN FACT: The dentist chair seen in the video for "The D Song" is actually from the back room of Sterling Studios, where "The Frontier Project" was recorded! Guitarist Seth Gremaud smoked one of his first cigarettes in that chair, while brother and drummer Adam Gremaud lost his anal virginity in it!!! |

Get rid of the likes likes and go right 2 screens (call this screen POINT 1). Kill the patras here. Go down and fight the Zols, and then go down again, fighting Zols and keeses. Bomb the right wall and go right, then bomb the top wall and go up. Get the map and then bomb the top wall and enter. Kill the wizzarobes then move the left stone and get the red ring. Go back to POINT 1 (down 2 screen, left, up 2 screens) and go up, move to the left. Attack the wizzarobes then move the left stone and take the staircase. Upon emerging, fight your foes then go left 2 screens (call this screen POINT 2). Move the left stone and take the stairs. Upon clearing the stairs, bomb the top wall and go up. Get rid of all the foes here so you can move the center stone and enter the stairs for the silver arrows. Go back to POINT 2. Go up 3 screens and bomb the left wall and go left. Move the stone to access the staircase, but also avoiding the spikes. In the new room, bomb the left wall and go left. Use the wand on the likes likes, and then moving the left stone and enter the stairs. Move the left stone and enter the staircase. Upon emerging, battle the patra one more time. Destroying it, go up to fight ganon. To destory him, stab him (he is invisable, but you will notice the pattern) then pummel him with silver arrows. After destorying him, go up, slash the fire blocking Princess Zelda and voila! |

I hope all your fame doesn't stop you from playing the good old Gremaud basement shows. :) If you are interested in playing the Dominican, Moscow, Sri Lanka, or the Netherlands, let me know... Pushing Atlas will be there this summer and we'd love you to tour with us. |
Adam Gremaud - 05/02/99 20:21:19 | Comments: Ok, for all of you that see this message, it's regarding our show on May 28. I'd send the info to Brian, but I'm not, so deal with it here. The show is a fundraiser for the Fairfax Youth Organization. Don't worry, we're not the only band there, so ther 's still a chance of quality music being played. If you don't have one of our albums yet, they will be sold at the fundraiser. But here's the catch. I've just recieved this information recently, long after we were committed to diong this thing. The fu draiser happens to be a fashion show!!! So no one in the band will be upset if you don't caome. Plus you have to pay, but I don't know how much. So that's the low down for this deal. So far, there's no update on the Pavement front, but I've sent email to the booking person at the 9:30 club. In the mean time, keep on rockin!! |
Crazy Jason - 04/26/99 03:31:32 My Email:djmandel21@hotmail.com Favorite Band: The Hollywood Hitmen | Comments: This is a story that's really odd, a story of Siems, Baily, and two brothers Gremaud. I saw pictures of a "world tour" it obviously never happened, need I say more. They have their own CD, now they're really set- Except Siems should drop the guitar, and stick with bass clarinet. TO BE CONTINUED... |

Dave produces some great music, and besides, he's a lot hotter than that "Brian" guy. My advice: Go home and read a book or somthi g, just put down the guitars! |
The Liqudator - 04/12/99 15:07:22 My Email:H2O@tigris.riv | Comments: You may have thought that the stone heads on Easter Island were all that is left. On the contrary, my friends, I too live among the stone faces of the island. The drum solo Adam played while he was here was a magical one. I'd like to add my name to you band, I can play the maraccas. |

Adam Gremaud - 03/30/99 17:28:27 My Email:Nafarium@hotmail.com Favorite Band: not M31 | Comments: In the wake of the current disaster of the M31 world tour, I have decided to ban all songs containing the phrase "I guess my chance has passed me by." Included in thisi elite group of tunes are virtually all of M31's tracks on their acclaimed album "The rontier Project." This is due mostly to complaints recieved by the stone soldiers also known as the Terra Cotta Warriors. They felt that the immence feedback cause their romper suit flaps to "bust open" allowing Seth and Brian to violate them from behin . |

Although I don't know what he means by wanting to play one the moon, I'm sure it's an important numerical reference that the slow-witted like us were not meant to understand. Sound really does need a medium to trav l in. I looked it up. Did you also know that light travels in particles AND waves? You guys should play on the sun, sometime. Hugs and kisses!!! xoxoxo |
