Blur Biography

Blur

The history of Blur can be traced back to 1980, when Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon met as schoolboys at school where they sang together in the choir. Both were drawn to music. As their musical talents and other bits developed and they were joined by Dave Rowntree and Alex James to form a bizarre art-punk band called Seymour. They re-named the effort BLUR in 1989 and signed that year to Food Records.

Since the release of their first single the next year and first album Leisure the next, Blur have continued a striking evolution. Modern Life Is Rubbish, Parklife, and The Great Escape brought the band in steps to the hallmark of pop stardom, the cover of Smash Hits teen magazine. The fifth album, cleverly named BLUR, on Virgin is the rawest, most experimental and likely most successful to date.
