Herbal Recipe's for Beauty

Baths and Bubbles There are four ways to use essential oils in the bath. First, of course, they can just be added neat and undiluted to the water. This gives the bath a wonderful aroma. But the oils can also be incorporated into homemade bath crystals, bath oils, and bubble baths. To make your own at home bath crystals couldn't be easier and if you save attractive glass jars over the year, making presents for all your friends during the holidays will take about ten minutes! Simply crush washing soda crystals, add a little food coloring, and the essential oils of your choice-- to each 9 ounce add 20 drops of essential oil. Tie a few ribbons around the jars, et voila.

Nourishing Oil

Avocado oil- 2 teaspoons
Apricot kernel oil- 2 teaspoons
Sweet almond oil- 2 tablespoons
Add 50 drops of essential oils of your choice.

Cleansing Bubble Bath

100% Pure Soap Flakes or grated soap- 8 ounces
Witch hazel- 2 tablespoons
Almond oil- 2 cups
Spring water- 2 cups
Boil the spring water and melt the soap in it. In another container, mix the witch hazel and almond oil together and shake well. Then slowly add the soap mixture to the witch hazel and oil blend and again, shake or blend well. These amounts will make a large quantity of basic bubble bath mixture to which you can add the essential oils of your choice as and when required. For each 2 tablespoons base bubble bath use 15 drops of essential oil and mix well. Use 1-2 teaspoons of the final product in each bath.

Body Splashes

Body splashes are invigoration sprays or slap-on water-based lotions that have a variety of uses. They can stimulate or tone, uplift or relax-- depending on what essential oils you use. The vinegar to use is white wine or cider, whichever you prefer. If you use vodka, the higher proof the better. Don't use these splashes, however, if you have sensitive or dehydrated skin.

Deodorant Splash
Vinegar- 4 ounces
Vodka- 2 teaspoons
Lavender 5 drops
Sage- 5 drops
Lemon- 5 drops
Rosemary- 5 drops
Peppermint- 3 drops
Grapefruit- 5 drops
Add to 2 cups spring water.
First blend the essential oils together. Add them to the vodka and shake well for as long as you can. Leave them all to settle, then add the vinegar. Pour the whole mixture into 2 cups of spring water and again, shake well. Finally, pass the liquid through a paper coffee filter. The longer you leave the essential oils in the vodka and vinegar mix before adding to the water, the stronger the scent will be. Follow this same procedure when making all the splashes that follow.
