The 7 major Chakras

Each Chakra has its own colour. Their function is to absorb, receive, transform and forward energy, integrating physical and psychological as well as emotional aspects:

1. The Root-Chakra (Muladhara-Chakra, Base-Chakra)

Location: Base of the spine, between anal orifice and genitals

Function: the will of the body to be, grounding, entry point for Kundalini energy

Color: deep red

2. The Sacral-Chakra (Savadhistana-Chakra, Sex-Chakra, Navel-Chakra)

Location: root of the genitals

Function: the secual, the emotions

Color: orange

3. The Solar-Plexus-Chakra (Manipura-Chakra, Stomach-Chakra)

Location: below the diaphragm

Function: developing of the personality, handling of emotions, affects stomach, liver and pancreas

Color: yellow, golden yellow

4. The Heart-Chakra (Anahata-Chakra)

Location: heart area

Function: center of higher emotions such as love (heart qualities), affect the heart and the lungs as well as the thymus gland

Color: green, pink, gold

5. The Throat-Chakra (Vishuddha-Chakra)

Location: base of the throat

Function: control of thyroid and parathyroid glands, the larynx, the lymphatic system, communication, creativity, inspiration

Color: light blue

6. The Third-Eye-Chakra (Ajna-Chakra, Brow-Chakra)

Location: on the forehead between the eyebrows

Function: control of the endocrine system, spiritual will, projection of will, manifestation

Color: indigoblue, purple

7. The Crown-Chakra (Sahasrara-Chakra)

Location: at the crown of the head

Function: energizing the brain and pineal gland, entry point for Reiki and other divine energies, completion, universal knowledge

Color: purple, white, gold
