Ian Gibbons sessions (The Musicians' Olympus)
IAN GIBBONS sessions
This is the list of the sessions I know Ian Ellis
appears... I've classified them into several categories:
-
Sessions with former/current bandmates
-
Other sessions
SESSIONS WITH FORMER/CURRENT BANDMATES
Dr. Feelgood
-
'Living on the highway / ????' (1983) (single)
-
Brilleaux (1986)
-
Primo ()
-
On the road again ()
A magnificent band! A pity their singer Lee Brilleaux
died. He should be eternal! :)
Ian Gibbons guests on Brilleaux,
an album produced by Will Birch, drummer in The Records (see below for
more relationship). For that album, the band lineup was:
-
Lee Brilleaux (vocals, harmonica)
-
Gordon Russell (guitar)
-
Phil Mitchell (bass)
-
Kevin Morris (drums)
Also guesting, an ex-member, The Big Figure on backing
vocals.
Dave Davies
-
Unfinished business: Dave Davies Kronikles 1963-1998
(Jan 99, ) (2CD) (compilation with many unreleased tracks)
Dave Davies has always been the guitarist in The Kinks.
Even though he might be shadowed by his brother Ray Davies, it's clear
that most of the Kinks sound is due to him. This 2CD compilation includes
some tracks recorded with The Kinks, plus solo material. And the good thing
is that many of the tracks were unreleased. The musicians appearing here
are Kinks members: Ray Davies (vocals, guitar), John Dalton (bass), Mick
Avory (drums), Andy Pyle
(bass), Jim Rodford (bass), Ian Gibbons (keyboards), as well as some others
who appeared playing sessions for The Kinks: Nick Trevisik (drums) or Bobby
Graham (drums), for example. 31 delicious tracks.
Sabre Jet
-
Same old brand new (May 2000, Delicious)
This is really a Darrell Bath solo album. Darrell
and Ian have been playing together in Ian Hunter Band since 1997. Produced
by Kris Gray and Andy Scott (from The Sweet fame), it features Ian Gibbons
(keyboards) among others.
OTHER SESSIONS
Records
-
Crashes (1980, Virgin)
-
Smashes, crashes, and near misses (1988, Virgin) (compilation)
They were an English group formed in 1977, with: John
Wicks (vocals, guitar), Will Birch (drums, ex-Kursaal Flyers), Phil Brown
(bass) and Huw Gower (guitar, vocals).
Crashes is their 2nd album. During
the recording, their guitarist Huw Gower left them, and Will Birch called
Clem Clempson to play on
it. It also features guest appearances by Ian Gibbons (keyboards), Chris
Gent (sax), Chris Stein (keyboards, from Blondie)
Smashes, crashes, and near misses
is a compilation. It features Clem
Clempson (guitar), Paul Carrack (keyboards),
Ian Gibbons (keyboards), Chris Gent (sax), Bobby Irwin (drums).
