JIMMY HOROWITZ

Biography

Bands/Discography:

Solo albums / musicals: He's probably best known as producer and a magnificent arranger, but as my site is more biased to musician players, I've included here as keyboardist. He was born in 1945, in Liverpool, England. He married to beautiful singer Lesley Duncan, to whom he produced all her best albums.

BLUESOLOGY

This band was formed in 1966 by Long John Baldry. They went through several lineup changes. Some of the musicians were:

They released 3 singles from 1965 to 1967, but I don't know the lineups in all those singles.

There's an album called Rare tracks, where we can also find Caleb Quaye playing in some tracks. The band dissolved in 1968, but Jimmy played with Baldry many years later, as we're going to read.

QUIET MELON

This was a project initially led by veteran Art Wood (from The Artwoods, and brother of Ron Wood). Through a few spare gigs with changing lineups, this served as the seed for Faces (all the members played here: Rod Stewart, Ron Wood, Ronnie Lane, Ian McLagan, Kenny Jones), plus others such as the late Kim Gardner (bass) or Long John Baldry. The lineup for a one-off gig in May 1969 included Jimmy Horowitz too:

LESLEY DUNCAN BAND

Jimmy's relationship with Lesley Duncan was very close, as they were married at that time. Jimmy produced most of her albums, and he also assembled and played live bands to back her. This was the lineup for September 1972:

THE FACES

A magnificent, powerful band. Although they always were a quintet, their last tour (August to November 1975) saw them reinforced with a 6th musician, the late Jesse Ed Davis on guitar. Jimmy Horowitz also toured with the band, as conductor for the string section that was used every night in a couple of songs:

Soon after the tour was over, the band split. A very missed band, I loved them.
