UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL

This writing was about a serious issue that occurred around the end of December 1997 at Club Underground, a venue where we had been having shows.

Almost all of the shows in Sarnia were held at "The Club Underground." As we in Sarnia know, the club is usually a dance club which attracts people from all around the area.

One night in December, there was a punk show scheduled and the owners decided they could make even more money by opening it up to the dancers after the show. Strangely, dancers still came in when they knew it was punk music for most of the evening. It just so happened that some of the dancers were there with other things in mind. One dancer in particular had seen one of our boys and taken an immediate dislike to him. This progressed into a fight which started with our boy winning and everyone was getting involved. However, the tides turned. After the dancer regained a position, all the helpers fled. One of our girls, age 15, was slammed against a wall by the dancer. The skirmish continued outside the club, where our boy was being pummeled by the dancer and his friends-and no one would help. The dancer then grabbed our boy's girlfriend(who happened to be under 5 ft tall) and proceeded to punch her in the stomach. Still, no help from bystanders or 'friends'. The fight ended and our boy suffered a broken nose and some broken fingers.

Another incident occurred just recently at Northern Collegiate. Two of our boys, who did not attend Northern, came to visit friends. Upon their arrival in the section, jock types began tormenting them, calling them names like "faggot" and "homo." There were only a couple in our crew willing to strike back with some comments of their own for the jocks. It is imperative to the survival of our scene that we all stick together. It made me sick to hear that one of our boys was beaten and not one of his friends would get outside to help. Even worse than that is the fact that no one helped his girlfriend or the other girl involved. We are all in the battle to gain respect together. United we stand, divided we fall. To all you pricks who stood around watching these things happen, I suggest listening to BRO HYMN by Pennywise.
