Valery De Long has served as Director
of External Affairs for Northwestern University Settlement
House since January
2000. She is responsible for development, marketing and
public relations at both the Settlement and Noble Street
Charter High School. She also works closely with the Settlement
and school policy boards and all six of the Settlement’s
auxiliary boards.
Before moving to Chicago from Indianapolis, Ms. De Long
filled program manager, development director and executive
director positions at a variety of community-based organizations
with an emphasis on affordable housing, main street redevelopment,
job and life management skills training, advocacy, social
services and the arts. De Long has a Bachelor of Arts degree
in History and an emphasis in Theater from Wheaton College.
She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
