To honor excellence in the professional and non-equity theatre
in the metro Chicago area, the Joseph Jefferson Award Committee
evaluates approximately 200 productions each year.
Comprised of 45 theatre professionals
and enthusiasts, the committee denotes a “Jeff Recommended” acclamation
when at least one element of a particular show was deemed
outstanding by opening night judges. At the end of the
season, the entire production is then eligible for a
Jeff Award or
Jeff Citation nomination.
