About Us ...
The
Cat Network is a non-profit, cat rescue group based
in St. Louis, Missouri. We save abandoned, abused, stray and traditional-shelter
cats. After their rescue, the cats and kittens are medically treated,
tested and spayed or neutered. Cats are kept in "foster care," then placed
in good permanent homes whenever possible. Since 1991 we have rescued
and placed over 2,450 cats and kittens!
We are a no-kill, life-enhancing group. And we are committed to our cats
being happy throughout their lives ...
If you
ever need to return a cat that
was adopted from us, we
want to take our cats back!
Our Rescue Efforts ...
We remove cats from bad situations and give them the care and attention
they deserve. Approximately 65% of our rescues are from local traditional
shelters before the cats or kittens have to be euthanized.
Those adopting from us receive detailed medical records, "personality
profiles" and an assurance of quality care before adopting their pet.
Our policy to spay and neuter also deals with the problem of cat over
population.
We also accept pets from individuals who can no longer care for the animal.
However, we ask the person for a donation to cover their care, including
shots and testing. We can then focus our income on the more unfortunate
cats and kittens.
All Your Money Helps ...
As a non-profit, all-volunteer, 501 (c)(3) corporation any donations
to The Cat Network are tax-deductible. A copy of our IRS ruling is available
upon written request to IRS Tax Letter Request.
No salaries or board perks are ever taken out of any income raised -
100% of funds raised goes directly back "into the pot" to help
us rescue more cats and kittens.
We are funded about mostly by donations, but also by adoption fees and
fundraisers, which includes booths at local cat shows which are generously
donated to us by the sponsoring club. We have several handmade fundraising
items to purchase, and several donation programs you can participate in.
For 2000 our expenses totaled $45,881 (down from $54,495 in 1999 due
to some smart dealings by our volunteers!) with $21,117 of this alone
for veterinarian care bills ($13,205 of this due to major surgeries, emergency
situations, and very ill kitties), $2,074 for food, litter and other cat
supplies, and $5,231 for advertising. The remainder is divided between
such things as fundraising costs, printing, postage, shelter rescue fees
and liability insurance.
Cat Tales ...
We currently issue our newsletter, Cat Tales, two times per year:
May and November. We feature various fundraising events, a featured feline
health article in almost every issue written by one of our affiliated
vets which we also publish on our website, some of our rescue highlights,
and other tasty tidbits!
To join our mailing list, please send your name and postal address (we
do not currently distribute on line) to:
catnetwork@earthlink.net
with a note to include you on our mail list.
There is no charge for our newsletter, but due to the cost of printing
and postage, if we don't receive a merchandise order or donation (no minimum
amount) within a year after you sign up, we will remove your name.
For those of you outside of the United States, because our postage is
bulk rate, and that rate does not apply outside of the U.S., it costs
us extra money to mail these issues. We will be happy to mail you the
first issue free of charge, but to continue to be on our mail list will
require a small donation, amount at your discretion, then the above applies.
