Dale Tecson
Bass Guitar, Background Vocals
Dale's pumping bass playing is the foundation of Silhouette Band's integral sound. He is a very serious musician and devotes time for practice and improvisation.
His musical influence started long before playing the bass. Dale’s father Nonie played piano for The Playmates in Cebu & Manila and in Toronto with the Machettes & Manila Affair where his passion and diligence exposed the music loving brothers (Dale is Alex/Silhouette Band ex-Keyboardist younger brother) at an early age.
After arriving in Canada in 1974, Dale’s interest in piano shifted and it wasn’t until the age of 14 in high school where he began bonding with the bass. Double bass aka as acoustic or standup bass was introduced by his music teacher after convincing him to play one because it played like a guitar; the first choice of instrument. After developing the basic skills of the instrument, a close friend sold him a copy of a Rickenbacker bass and introduced the eclectic music of rock icon and favorite idol, Geddy Lee of Rush.
Dale join the high school’s stage band and orchestra which won first place in The 1981 Annual Kiwanis Music Festival competition held at venues like Roy Thomson and Massey Hall. Highlighting Dale’s tenure in the orchestra, performing variety of styles certainly build a diverse musical background from classical, funk, disco and rock & roll.
As Dale mastered the instrument, he join High Voltage band in 1983 and Filipino 5-0 band in 1987, but both suffered short comings of less than 2 years. After a 6 year hiatus, his interest was renewed and began to actively search for musicians that resulted in a jam session with the Mapeso brothers, Rey in guitar and Noel on drums. Together with Alex on keys and original vocalist Jay Peralta on lead vocals, Silhouette was born November 1999. “I have been fortunate to play with a group of well rounded players and at the same time learn from Rey’s experience and road worthy knowledge that has lifted the band’s reputation to a riveting assortment of styles from contemporary jazz to a high flying rock & roll band!” says Dale of the band.
The roots of Dale’s musical foundation could not have been established without thanking the “key” players in his life; his family and music teacher Mrs. Lopac & Joy Goodwin for their wisdom and guidance.
Dale resides in downtown area of the City of Brampton, Ontario and is a Registered Massage Therapist by profession.
