When spiderman inadvertently ripped his costume during the secret wars, he never imaginedhow his new suit would change his life.  The costume gave the wall crawler powers he never had before, such as organic webbing, ability to change into street clothes instantaneously and increased spider-strength, but came with a price.  The costume was actually a living symbiote attempting to permanently bond with him.  With the help of reed richards, spider-man was able to remove the parasite, which escaped to bond with eddie brock and become venom.
