Marguerita Mahfood was a professional dancer known as "the Rhumba Queen", but she is most known as the girlfriend of Don Drummond. He stabbed her to death in the early hours of New Year's Day 1965, in an interview by David Rodigan (Capital Records) in 1984, Tommy McCook recalls: "Marguerita and... they were going... they were sort of inseparable... and something happened... she... he was to play with Skatalite one night and a... on a new years eve at La Parisienne... at La Parisienne Club and he was supposed to have had his medication early evening, so that he would be able to come out about eight o'clock. She was a dancer... she wanted to go dancing which he didn't like for her to go dancing while he is somewhere else (...) she gave him his medication late so that he wouldn't get up in time to catch the gig. So she went out dancing, Lloyd went for Don to go to work, he was sleeping. We played the first set and we took an intermission and I went back because we were pretty close to where he was living... it took about three miles, Harbour View... La Parisienne was in Harbour View and he was in Rockfort. Lloyd went back for him when we took intermission about a half hour later and he still was sleeping. While she was out and did her gig, you know dancin' and she had... she had two gigs as far as I know, she had a dance at the (...) and she had one at the Club Havanna. (...) is in Crossroads and Club Havana is in Rockfort, so after she danced at (...) she went down to Club Havana and the people from (...) called her back, so she went back to the (...) to dance and Don woke up and missed her, she wasn't there and well, when she came in, you know, Don was mad knowing that he had missed playing with the band and she gone about her business, so that's where it happened. They had an argument and he stabbed her and that was (...)".
