Baccone Dolce was conceived of and created in Tallahassee, Florida, in the dusty bedroom of bassist Ben Sparks back in the fall of 1992. Powerful ideas and constructs came together between Ben and guitarist Will Galotti, both having found refuge from Mulberry, Florida in the state's capital city.

The two quickly aligned with drummer and friend, David Charles, whose percussive prowess helped them to form the extraordinary rhythm section that BD has today.

By early 1993, the three had become six, with the addition of horns, including alto saxophonist Dingle McCain, trumpeter Joshua Wolfenden and trombonist John Busch. Never a group to remain stagnant, BD continued to expand and experiment with its sound, writing compositions in the realms of acid jazz, funk, hip-hop and ska. The latter would become the stronghold, and as the sound grew, so would the lineup. Between '95 and '96, the roster claimed trumpeters Gary Moskowitz and Matt Colson and keyboardist Derek Mitchka. It was during this time that Baccone Dolce, after focusing on live shows in Tallahassee, began to tour. Live shows in Florida and Georgia led to tours up the east coast to Philadelphia and New York. We landed opening gigs with such influential bands as Mephiskapheles, the Scofflaws and Agent Orange. Studio recordings began to occur as well, with the release of two cassettes..."baccone dolce" and "bean bandits"...and a 3-song 7-inch, entitled "crisp nuggets." Blood, sweat, malt liquor and dedication paved the way for recording our first CD, "barbecued cats," which Moon Ska Records, NYC decided to help us distribute. This badass CD is an awesome representation of BD's early approach towards jazz-influenced ska...
