Chapter 4

"Brian, wait!" Jess screamed as she chased him across the football field.  "I'm sorry."
    Brian didn't even acknowledge that she was chasing after him.
    "Brian, would you please stop!" she shouted when she was close enough to grab the back of his
  shirt.
    "Why did you do it?" Brian asked as he suddenly turned around to face her.  "Don't you think you
  humiliate me enough?"
    "Brian, I'm sorry," Jess apologised.
    "Why did you do it?"
    "I don't know, I..."
    "Jess, you know I love you," Brian interrupted.  "I always have and I always will."
    "You love me?" Jess asked quietly.
    "Of course I do," Brian stated.  "And it's not coz of your popularity, or coz of the people you hang
  out with, or even coz you're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen."
    "why then?"
    "Because I know what you're really like," Brian replied.  "Jess, we used to be friends, really good
  friends, and you were nice, but now you've turned into a total bitch to fit in with Aleesha and
  Catherine."
    "Is that what you think?" Jess asked.
    "Yeah, it's what I think," Brian replied.  "And it's true."

    "There's something really wrong with you chicks," Kevin stated as he sat down with the girls.
  "That was so harsh, all Brian wants to do is be friends with you and you go and do that to him."
    "What?  We didn't do anything," Aleesha stated.
    "You can't honestly tell me you had nothing to do with what just happened," Kevin said.  "You girls
  can be total bitches sometimes."
    "Thank you," Aleesha smiled.
    "I'm goin', see ya's round," Kevin said as he got up and walked out.
    "Back in a sec, chicky's," Catherine said as she followed Kevin.

    "What's your problem?" Catherine asked when they got into the hall.
    "You girls," Kevin said.  "What you did to Brian..."
    "Hey, I didn't do anything to Brian," Catherine interrupted.  "Don't take it out on me!"
    "Whatever," Kevin said as he started walking away.
    "I was talking to you," Catherine stated angrily.
    "People are goona get sick of the shit you give 'em," Kevin stated.
    "You think I care less what you think?" Catherine asked.  "Coz I don't, not in the slightest."

    "Brian, I know I don't act like it sometimes, but I actually like you," Jess stated.
    "Then why can't we be friends?" Brian asked.
    "Because if we're friends we're gonna start hanging out together more and then I'll start wanting
  more."
    "And there's a problem with that?"
    "Yes, because I'm no good for you."

    "So Claire, your turn," Aleesha stated.  "You gonna do it?"
    "I think so," Claire replied, a little uncertainly.
    "Go girl," Aleesha smiled.  "When and where?"
    "Tomorrow, same time, same place."
 
    "Morning, chicky's," Catherine said as she arrived at the lockers.  "Claire, today's the big day,
  huh?"
    "Yeah," Claire replied.
    "You got guts, girl," Aleesha stated, putting her hands on Claire's shoulders.
    "I know," Claire smiled.
    "Walk with me, girl," Alessha said, grabbing Catherine's hand.
    "Okay," Catherine replied.  "What up?"
    "You thought of another dare for me?" Aleesha asked.
    "I've kinda had an idea," Catherine replied.
    "Do tell," Aleesha said.
    "Okay, well, you know how my dare is kinda...well it would be extremely embarrassing for
  someone that doesn't love attention?"
    "Yeah..."
    "So I'm thinking we could both do it," Catherine stated.
    "Ummm...okay, cool.  I'm in."
