Chapter 1

“Rok! Get your butt in gear!”, Nick called from the bedroom. Nick and Brian were sharing a room in the hotel and they were going to be late for their flight if they didn’t hurry. Nick and Brian were the closest out of the Backstreet Boys. Their personalities seemed to have clicked. “I’m hurrying! I’m hurrying!”, Brian said running out of the bathroom and picking up his bags. He was used to the fast pace. He had been living it for 5 years. Ever since he joined the group, his life had sped up and hadn’t stopped yet. The boys were a smash hit in Europe and now they were finally getting popular in America. Their single, “Quit Playing Games With My Heart” was number 2 on the billboard charts.

“You know I love you guys, but I am so happy this tour is over. I just want to go home and visit my parents for a little while.”, Brian said sitting back in his seat on the plane. “No joke! I am so tired. I think I am going to go home and sleep for days.”, Kevin said joking. “You probably could sleep for days Kev.”, AJ commented from behind him. “I heard that AJ.”, Kevin said flatly. AJ laughed. “I love ya Kev!” Two hours later they landed in Orlando. There wasn’t a huge crowd but quite a gathering of fans to greet them at the gates. The guys were happy to sign autographs for them. “So Brian, when are you heading to Kentucky?”, Howie asked once they were all seated in the van. “Well actually, in about 4 hours. I just have enough time to go to my apartment and get some clean clothes and then I have to go back to the airport.”, he said sighing. “I can’t wait to get there.”, he finished. “What happened to that girl Haley that you were so hung up on that lives there?”, Nick asked slyly. “Honestly I don’t know. I don’t even know if she still lives in Lexington. I haven’t seen her in 4 years. My career was so stressful on our relationship. I just hope she is happy.”, Brian said softly, remembering Haley. They had broken up about a year into his career. They broke up on good terms but lost touch somehow. Brian and Haley tried so hard to keep the relationship but it just wouldn’t work. Maybe they were too young. Who knows?

*6 hours later*

“Welcome home honey!”, Brian’s mom, Jackie, exclaimed when Brian stepped into the house. “It feels so good to be home Mom.”, Brian said hugging her tightly. “I am glad to have you home. You deserve a break.”, she said ushering him into the kitchen. They sat down at the kitchen table and began to catch up.
