Chapter 2

"Bzzzzzzz!" Theresa's annoying alarm clock sounded the next morning.

"Uck!" She bumbled annoyed, as she turned it off, got up, and showered.

Back at Dawn's house, Dawn was just waking up. Dawn quickly showered, and got dressed in a pair of khaki shorts, sandals, and a blue spaghetti strap tank top. She put her hair into a tight mess bun, with a few strands of her outgrown bangs hanging on the sides. She put on a tad bit of makeup and finished packing.

Back at Theresa's house, Theresa hopped out of the shower, and got dressed in khaki shorts, sandals, and her gray Old Navy T-shirt. She brushed her hair and put the top section into a barrette. She curled her hair in little tendrils. She put on her makeup, finished packing, and took her suitcase, makeup case, and red Jansport backpack downstairs. She knew it would be a long time before her family would be up and ready to go, so she plopped down on the couch in the family room, and turned on her 'Backstreet Stories' video. Her mom came downstairs dressed and ready to go at six. By the time the video was over, her whole family was ready to go. Since it was an hour ride to the Mitchell International Airport. Theresa called Dawn's house.

"Hey Dawn! Ready to go? Theresa asked excitedly.

"Yeah, we're all set." Dawn replied.

"Okay, we'll be over in a little bit." Theresa answered and the girls both hung up. Theresa and her brothers quickly loaded the family's luggage into their green minivan. Finally they hopped into the van and drove the thirty-second drive to Dawn's house. The Schrecks parked their van in the Wesenberg's driveway, and Theresa and Joe ran to the front door, and Dawn answered the door, and told them they were ready to go, so Dawn's family climbed into their red sports car, and they backed out and headed for the airport. When they got to the airport, Theresa, Dawn, Joe, and Rick jumped out of the parked cars, grabbed their bags, and ran towards the entrance.

"Kids, hold on!" Dawn's mother yelled at them.

"Sorry." Apologized Theresa, Dawn, and Rick.

"We're going to Florida!" Theresa exclaimed to Dawn. Theresa had only been to Florida once, and that was five years ago, when she was eleven. Dawn had been to Florida a lot, since she had relatives that lived there, but she was still excited since she was going with Theresa's family. Since Theresa was now sixteen years old, her mom said she could get her own rental car-considering she paid for it, so she and Dawn decided to rent one with all the money they'd saved up. Another plus about this trip was that the girls got their very own hotel room, which they also had to pay for. They were quite surprised when their parents agreed to let them share a hotel room with no adult supervision.

"I know, this is gonna rock!" Dawn replied, as the two families walked in the doors of the large airport. They went through the luggage check, dropped off their bags, and made their way through security-which took quite awhile considering all the video games and odds and ends Joe and Rick had on them. Finally, they made it to gate B24, their flight to Orlando. By this time it was almost eight 'o clock, so they quickly boarded the plane There were three seats on each side of it, with an aisle in the middle. It was a fairly small plane. Rick, Theresa, and Dawn sat in the same row. Rick absolutely insisted on sitting next to the window, Theresa in the middle, and Dawn closest to the aisle. In front of them sat Joe, Jake, and Theresa's dad, and in front of them sat Dawn's parents, and Theresa's mom. Theresa clutched her jacket and armrests with all her might, since she was deathly afraid of planes. The flight attendant went through the safety precautions and the plane slowly started to move. The plane began to move faster, when Dawn heard a whine from her left. There she saw Theresa holding on to the armrest and making a face that made her look constipated.

"It's okay, Theresa!" Dawn exclaimed. "We haven't even gotten in the air yet!"

"I know." Theresa said, "But we're going so fast!"

"We'll be fine." Dawn said as the plane sped up and slowly lifted off the runway. The plane was on an angle that made Dawn and Theresa feel unsafe.

"Ow! My ears are popping!" Joe said from a seat in front of them.

"Duh, Joe, that's what always happens, that's why they say to bring gum, so your ears DON'T pop." Theresa mocked him.

"I'm so stupid!" Joe cried. "I forgot gum!" He said throwing one of his tantrums.

"Joe, settle down." Mr. Schreck said. Dawn, Theresa, Rick, and Jake just laughed in Joe's distress.

"We are now straightening out at 33 thousand feet." The pilot said over the intercom.

"Oh God!" Theresa cried.

"What?" Dawn asked.

"I'm afraid of heights." Theresa answered.

"Don't worry, just think, tonight we'll be sleeping in Orlando, Florida!"

"Yeah." Theresa added. "Home of the Backstreet Boys!" She finished in awe.

"Would you like something to drink?" The flight attendant asked.

"Sure." Dawn replied. "I'll have an iced tea."

"And you?" The lady asked Theresa.

"A Mountain Dew please." The lady gave the girls their drinks and about a half-hour later they were served lunch (early lunch hey?). They had a roast beef mix thing with noodles, veggies, and rice.

"We have now arrived in Florida and will be shortly landing, so if you stay seated, and fasten your seatbelts for a safe landing." The pilot instructed, and of course Joe had to misbehave, stand up and start jumping up and down like a rabbit (in snowshoes- hehe Chasm).

"Joe! Sit down!" Mr. Schreck scolded.

"Ugggh!" Joe groaned.

"Oh my god, I can't believe we're in Florida! I'm so excited!" Dawn squealed, barely containing herself.

"I know! I hope the Backstreet Boys are home!" Theresa exclaimed. Just as she did, the plane started to drop dramatically.

"Oh god!" Theresa shrieked rather loudly.

"It's okay, we're only landing. It will only take a couple of minutes." Dawn comforted. Dawn was right (as usual), and they landed at the Orlando airport. The girls went on a shuttle to go get their luggage and then went down to the car rental. The Schreck and Wesenberg families had both gotten Buicks, but the girls made sure they got a jeep. They followed each other to the hotel where they unloaded and checked in.
