EARACHE IMMORTALISE METAL - AT LAST!
AFTER MONTHS of speculation, Earache Records have announced the tracklisting
of a unique Earache triple CD compilation "IMMORTALISED" celebrating all the
ground-breaking music that the label's bands have produced over the years.
The initial concept behind this massive Ltd Edition
3 CD set was Earache's own personal donation to their Metal Time Capsule, and
the collection will now also be released to the public on 13 March.
The CDs will be immortalised in their very own air-tight metal time capsule
tin, with a lavish 70 page booklet detailing the historical importance of each
band alongside rare unpublished photos and letters, AAA passes and memorabilia.
Also sealed inside will be an Earache Millennium Thrasher T-shirt.
Further news on the Earache Time Capsule includes
details that
**Donnington Park** have confirmed their commitment to immortalising metal -
the Most Metal Venue In The World - is to be the Time Capsule burial ground
for a secret ceremony in February 2000.
Donations have been flooding in and the Gods are
truly on board - **Motorhead** have announced that they are in, with Lemmy generously
donating his infamous bullet-belt, **Max Cavalera** has lopped off one of his
dreadlocks,
**Offspring** have sent in a full tour itinerary with AAA pass...and there is
promise of plenty of other celebrity donations to help immortalise metal, including
highly personal offerings from Earache bands past and present such as Morbid
Angel (Zoom effects pedal), Cathedral (infamous cord flares), Mortiis (*the*
nose and ears) Napalm Death and more...
Meanwhile hundreds of imaginative, bizarre and
downright sick suggestions have been rolling into Earache HQ from metal fans
all over the world via their website - from Dimebag Darrell's spit to hair mousse
to headless doves....
as metal fans fight over which albums must be enclosed and what memorabilia
most epitomises metal as we know it in the 21st Century.

INDUSTRIAL FESTIVAL BOOKED FOR UK
A wide array of electronic acts are being booked
for a festival at London's Astoria 2 on Sunday 23 April 2000, including MESH,
EVILS TOY, DE VISION and MAN(I)KIN.
More acts are yet to be confirmed. ELEKTROFEST, as it is being dubbed, looks
certain to follow the success of organisers Flag's previous festival Black Celebration.
The Halloween event featured such acts as C-Tec (collaboration between Cubanate's

The April festival is equally anticipated, with Depeche Mode-style electropopsters
Mesh a guaranteed draw. More details to follow.
HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM
Squeaky clean superstar Whitney Houston was caught
with 15.2 grams of marijuana at a Hawaii airport security checkpoint last week
but boarded her departing flight before police arrived.
The Tribune-Herald of Hilo, Hawaii said an airport security officer at Keahole-Kona
International Airport found the marijuana after asking the soul singer to open
her bag on Tuesday January 11. The bag was seized, but Houston boarded her United
Airlines flight to San Francisco, which left 45 minutes before police arrived.
Airport security officers, working for a private company, can only arrest passengers
for crimes which threaten airport security.
The company, Wackenhut of Hawaii, refused comment to The Associated Press yesterday
night, Sunday January 16. Houston's spokeswoman, Carol Stone was out of the
country and could not immediately be reached for comment.
According to the Tribune-Herald, the Hawaii County Police Department's daily
police bulletin noted 15.2 grams of marijuana was recovered at the airport at
2:28 pm on Tuesday, but did not name a suspect.
Police plan to refer the case to the Hawaii County prosecutor's office, which
could take a month.
Police declined to comment to the APlate on Sunday.
Houston's label, Arista Records could not be reached for comment in either Los
Angeles or New York on Sunday.
Possession of 15 grams of marijuana could lead to a drug charge of promotion
of a detrimental drug, punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a $1000 fine.
GENERATED X-ED RELEASE NEW ALBUM

NEW RELEASE
TITLE: PROTEST & SURVIVE
CAT. NO: MOSH 226CD
EUROPEAN RELEASE DATE: 24/ JANUARY / 2000
**NOW AVAILABLE FOR ALL TERRITORIES EXCEPT GAS**
TRACKLISTING: LSD Recharge / My Riot / Silversurfer vs Tha Bomb/ Rock 'n'Roll
Terrorist / Industrial Is Dead / Stammhein / Teach Ya Hate By Goya / I Take
The "F" Out Of My Life / Die Kinder Sind Allein / Protest & Survive / Rock 'n'
Roll Terrorist (dir.cutrmx)
Berlin - the revitalised and reunited capital of Germany is the city that has
spawned unique dance-terrorists Generated X-ed.
Vociferously representing the punk spirit of Berlin's youth today and challenging
head-on the dark undercurrents of modern Germany, Generated X-ed offer a distinctive
and heady fusion of hip hop, techno and drum 'n bass, with Punk attitude.
It is no surprise that Generated X-ed have already claimed a huge following
throughout Germany and into Europe, dominating the underground dance scene with
sales of 11,000 in Germany alone of their debut album "Protest & Survive" through
Trinity Records.
Despite competition from several major record labels, Earache have picked up
the gauntlet to take this ambitious and dynamic band further afield by releasing
the album in the UK, USA and Japan.
This then extended to all territories outside of GAS.
Generated X-ed were only interested in collaborating with a label that mirrored
their own proud spirit of independence.
"Protest & Survive" is a dark and powerful liaison between fast eclectic beat-driven
dance grooves and commanding, thought-provoking vocals.
As self-confessed "Rock 'n Roll Terrorist" frontman ThaBomb explains: "We wanted
to create a new sound with political statements across the borders and bring
back hard industrial elements with real influence."
Bands cited as an inspiration are as diverse as Public Enemy, Black Flag and
Atari Teenage Riot.
New member Roskoe brings adds another dimension as a well-established programmer
notable for his remixes for Kruder & Dorfmeister.
Generated X-ed boats an impressive live history; originally under the name of
Generation X-ed (the name was changed after threats from Billy Idol's management),
they have toured alongside Rammstein and Therapy? and played in front of 25,000
people at the legendary Rally Monte Lugau Open Air Festival in Germany.
Generated X-ed's infamous set at last year's Zillo Festival threatened to quite
literally blow away The Cure and Green Day, when an outrageous bass effect set
the PA on fire so that the audience themselves had to throw water at the blazing
rig!
It made perfect sense then that Generated X-ed teamed up with hardcore techno
act Ultraviolence for the Deathmatch Tour in the UK at the end of last year.
The band successfully stamped their mark on these shores with captivating live
performances and Radio One airplay on the Mary Ann Hobbs show with the highly
political "Industrial Is Dead". "Protest & Survive" is a hard and invigorating
political lesson as well as a stunning dance record.
Generated X-ed are set to be the breakthrough dance act of the millennium.
Since the huge, success of "Not Like Them", the
world has waited with bated breath to hear what Swedish sensations Misery Loves
Co would come up with next and the band have delivered a mammoth album that
exceeds all expectations.
"Your Vision Was Never Mine To Share" is a dark and brooding tale of epic proportions,
heavy and claustrophobic with an even stronger emphasis on the band's glorious
seduction of songwriting that hooks into you with frightening immediacy.
Patrik Wiren's vocals boast his remarkable scope for beautiful, haunting melodies
and ice-cold lyrics that cut to the bone, in stunning contrast to the intense
rage that inevitably rips through the chilling calm.
This emotional savagery is demonstrated not least in the title track and "No
Exit", both surely destined for the dancefloor, whilst the introspective passion
of "On Top Of The World" with it's raw guitars and monotone vocals builds and
heightens in intensity to a devastating degree.
As Patrik Wiren testifies, this is the album that Misery Loves Co have been
striving towards through their Grammy Award-winning previous work; this is their
vision realised.
"For the first time we didn't need to compromise on anything.
We are a full band now - Michael (Hahne) and Olle (Dahlstedt) have joined officially
and it shows.
It's more instant, more energetic. The sound is exactly what we have always
wanted to achieve."
The trademark industrial-infused beats and samples provide an extra dimensional
twist to a very diverse but cohesive album where heavy alterna-metal meets indie
elegy with darkwave undercurrents.
It is no surprise therefore to see The Cure's "The Drowning Man" covered with
splendid angst, whilst "Damage Driven" sounds like Radiohead with a particularly
vicious dose of the blues.
Black-hearted and powerful, moving and self-effacing, "Your Vision Was Never
Mine To Share" digs deep and exposes the nerves with the kind of clarity expected
from NIN - indeed, Misery Loves Co are the European contenders to the throne.
