![]() This is an ongoing update of all the things happening in town for each month! The dark pink font will be my comments about the shows I attend! ![]() September 11, 1998 Nitedrifter managed to get 3rd ROW CENTER seating for the CREED, JIMMIE'S CHICKEN SHACK, FUEL, AND FINGER ELEVEN concert Friday night, September 11, 1998!!!!!! WOW....two of my favorite bands in one place....Merriweather Post Pavillion! Don't be surprised if I come home without any voice and minimum hearing..hahahaha..it's happened before and I don't see an end to it any time soon! THIS SHOW ROCKED....ONE OF THE BEST I'VE SEEN! Even the opening acts, Fuel and Finger 11 were awesome. Jimmie's Chicken Shack sounded great as usual but I wish they would sing "Outhouse" and "Blood". I mean, what they did sing were fantastic but I'd like to see those two songs on their setlist at their next show. Creed was amazing plus I think they must've done every single song on their CD. The guitar sounded great and I love the deep voice of the lead singer, Scott Stapp. They really put on a good show live. Back To September 1998 Calendar September 19, 1998 If you like local bands, you NEED to check out HONOR AMONG THIEVES! I saw them at Harborplace awhile back and they were really GREAT! They play all original stuff plus the lead singer is pretty HOT! He's got a great voice kinda like the lead singer of Creed (Yes, I know singers don't like to be compared to other singers...but...it's just an observation.) Anyway, I'm usually pretty good at picking out groups that will make it big and I say that Honor Among Thieves will become big stars playing their own kind of music to the world one day soon! So with that in mind, GO CHECK THEM OUT on September 19th at Daytonas! I believe the price is just 5 bucks at the door....but don't quote me on it, ok? hahhaha...it's already in writing and I'm asking you to not quote me...hahhahha AAAHHHHH....Mitch (the lead singer) cut his hair off!!!! What a shocker cuz I thought he had really cool hair. Anyway, it's not the hair that's important here, it's the music! Once again, these guys ROCKED! It was said that they have finished their 2nd album and it will be coming out soon! I guess I should pick up their 1st CD first ;) and then I can stick it on my music review page! Anyway, they played 18 songs and I didn't see them tiring out. They had some really GREAT guitar sounds and the drummer is quite good. They have a mailing list for their updates but I don't know how you can get on it except for going to their shows so GO CATCH THEM while the price of admission is still only 5 bucks! You gotta support the local bands! Back To September 1998 Calendar September 20, 1998 I just found out that STABBING WESTWARD is coming to Bohagers on Sunday, September 20, 1998! Ticket price is $15.00 + service charge available by going to your local Ticket Master or Bohagers! I've never seen these guys but I love their stuff...sounds really different than anybody else although I must say (and don't bite my head off for saying this but) I think they have a bit of a NIN and AIC sound to them. Their songs are mostly about desperation, pain, and suffering, mostly in relationships...been there, done that! I picked up their newest CD Darkest Days and it is really good. Their songs and style are somewhat dark and moody but a bit erotic sounding too....I like it! This CD is emotionally packed and it's deep..go get it TODAY!! I got my ticket for their show today and I can't wait to check out their sounds live! Go check out their Website too! WOW...Stabbing Westward were amazing and their opening band "Sister Soleil" were good too. Lots of energy and sex appeal to the group especially the lead singer. Stabbing Westward did some of their older stuff and it was said that they were taping last night's concert live possibly to put on an album. SW also had a lot of energy and emotion to their songs. They even sang "Waking up beside you" off their new CD (track 16..the last one) and awwww, man, it was the coolest. This song's packed with so much emotion and the music is superb with it cuz it just builds on those emotions plus Christopher Hall's voice is perfect for it. I thoroughly had a great time and was kinda sad it had to end....who knows when they'll be back. Hopefully, we'll see them back in Baltimore with Depeche Mode!!! Back To September 1998 Calendar September 22, 1998 If you're as old as I am, then you grew up in the "GlamRock" era too! Remember LA GUNS? I loved them and they are coming to Daytonas on September 22nd! I wonder if they'll play some old stuff.....uhh....do they have new stuff? They should play The Ballad of Jayne! Those were the days of cassette tapes! I have their tapes...hahahhaha....Stop laughing I said tapes not 8-tracks...hahahhah. Anyway, go check them out cuz you may not get a second chance to see them again! There weren't many people at this show but it was nice... Small intimate crowd. Now I can say that I've seen LA GUNS perform live! They are still good and really got into their music. YES, they did play "The Ballad Of Jayne" so I was happie =) Back To September 1998 Calendar September 26, 1998 Anyone like to laugh?? ME TOO!! Well, you're in luck this month cuz 98 Rock is hosting a Comedy Night at Bohagers on Saturday, September 26, 1998 at 9pm!! Seating is just $9.98 and is limited so get your tickets early by going to Bohagers only for seating and Ticket Master or Bohagers for standing room TODAY! Oh yeah, Standing room is available for only $7.98. It sounds like a great time plus it will be outdoors!! Reminds me of the 98 Rock Fall Festivals at Bohagers that was outdoors too "under the tents". Staring two of the hottest comedians in the country: RODNEY CARRINGTON and ROBERT SCHIMMEL! The city was a zoo! Parking was a major BITCH! I totally missed the 1st comedian cuz I was looking for parking. So much for getting there on time. I eventually had to park way down by Fell's Point and when I finally arrived at Bohagers, the PREGNANT BIKINI CONTEST was showcasing their pregnant models....YUCK! Being that I just got there, I had to endure that with no booze =( but I was happie to say that the second comedian Robert Schimmel was great! Man, he was funny! The last guy, Rodney Carrington was NOT WHAT I wanted to see! Get that country lovin cowboy off the stage....where are my tomatoes when I need them? Back To September 1998 Calendar September 27, 1998 FREE SHOW!! 98 ROCK and Hard Rock Cafe bring JACKYL to an outdoor show in front of the Hard Rock Cafe at 4pm! Jackyl is trying to get the record of playing 100 shows in 50 days! This show will be #27 and it's FREE! Go early and find parking....the parking garage above the movies is a great place and weekends are a flat rate of just $6.00 dollars! See ya there! Aaaaahhh.....what a great show! And no one fell in the water in front of the Hard Rock Cafe! I was right up in the front by their trailer stage so I manage to get a few pics....I'll put them up when I buy a scanner. Jackyl sounded great and it definately fun at the right price. At the end of the show, the chainsaw came out and a wooden stool was cut and set on fire! Woohoo...nothing like a little pyromania to finish off a great set! Back To September 1998 Calendar |
