August 25, 1999: From Dynamite! Heavy Metal News
"The Cult
The Cult have officially signed with Lava/Atlantic Records, home of Kid
Rock. Lava has also signed the as-yet-unnamed Jerry Cantrel/Chris
DeGarmo
project. Thanks Ed for the word. " Well this sure sounds interesting!!!
August 1999: Well it now appears as if the Behemoth/Satanica rumor was just that, a rumor. However, I have heard that Chris HAS indeed been working with Jerry Cantrell on BOTH of Jerry's upcoming discs. One is reported to even have a country sound to it! According to Jerry (recently on a Rockline interview) the discs should be finished sometime near the end of the year. Hopefully this means more news will be forthcoming soon.
May-June-July 1999: Hearing some interesting rumors. First one was that Chris, Sean and Mike's band has a name, Behemoth. Their cd also has a name, Satanica. No confirmation on either of these, but I will report news/rumors I feel come from reliable sources. The second piece of information I've gleaned is that Jerry and Chris are working together (It's confirmed Jerry is working on another solo disc, or two!), but again, this hasn't been either confirmed, or denied.
Feb 1999: (From MTV News) Guitarist Jerry Cantrell has remained in the spotlight with a solo album released last year. Management also confirms that bassist Mike Inez and drummer Sean Kinney have been jamming with former Queensryche guitarist Chris DeGarmo in an as-yet unnamed side project.
January 1999: From the Metal Edge newswire :
"MIKE INEZ said that he'd just recorded two new songs with ALICE IN CHAINS and mixmaster TOBY WRIGHT in Seattle for the boxed set coming out this spring, and that he'd been jamming with CHRIS DeGARMO and SEAN KINNEY in a to-be-named project."
