Flea's Place

I wrote to flea asking him if he would like to say a few words about music and bass playing, that i could put on this site. Below is his reply!

"Thats kinda hard, the last thing i wanna do is say something that people are gonna take as gospel in learning the instrument. Theres many ways to approach playing the bass and the one i took is just one of many which just happened to work for me. The one thing i will say is that your playing should always remain fluid, dont allow it to be restricted by any particular style or by the way any particular player uses his instrument. Id hate to think that any young player would spoil his enjoyment by getting swamped in some of the pieces ive created over the years. Having said that its always nice when people find pride in reproducing your own work. Send me a link to site and i might check it out some time."
